Product Description A long time ago at the Japanese Imperial court, the Chinese Emperor offered a giant panda bear as a symbol of peace to the Japanese Emperor. Since then, the Japanese Emperor has entrusted his court members (the players) with the difficult task of caring for the animal by tending to his bamboo garden. In Takenoko, the players will cultivate land plots, irrigate them, and grow one of the three species of bamboo (Green, Yellow, and Pink) with the help of the Imperial gardener to maintain this bamboo garden. They will have to bear with the immoderate hunger of this sacred animal for the juicy and tender bamboo. The player who manages his land plots best, growing the most bamboo while feeding the delicate appetite of the panda, will win the game. Box Contains 28 tiles (plots)90 bamboo sections20 irrigation channels9 landscaping cards46 objective cards4 individual boards

Beautiful Game.
What a gloriously beautiful game. The artwork and finishing on this product is superb and is easily the nicest looking game I own.The game is easy to teach/learn and play. The mechanics are simple but thanks to the mission cards you choose then each game is different and there is no one strategy that works. It very much depends on what other players choose to do.4 Player max is a drawback for bigger groups but the balance in the game suits this number of players and there is limited downtime between your turns, especially as you will be waiting to see what other players do as it impacts your goals. It's definitely in my top 5 games at the moment.

This game is a must have for the game collection!
I purchased this game due to some great reviews. On first impressions I thought it was a bit girly and child like. However, once I played it for the first time I got over this and enjoyed it for what it was, a fantastically fun family game, with good strategy elements and a little bit of a cutthroat element thrown in to introduce the younger members of your family to the concept of 'getting done over'! Which, lets face it, they all need to learn at some point! The parts are good quality which is a nice touch. The suggested age range is 8+ which I think it spot on. My 6 year old can play this game, albeit with some help. And he absolutely loves it. So I wouldn't want to discourage anyone with younger kids from buying it. Also, it is definitely not just a kids game and have played with friends, it just gets a bit more heated!

Fun to plan, and a bit different. My daughter loves it
A good game. Takes a little while to fully understand the rules, but definitely something different. Really appealed to my 11 year old daughter, and a good shift away from fantasy civilisation type games. A good mix of strategy and luck and every game is different. Not in my top 10 (and I have a lot of board games) but a worthy addition to my growing collection

A great family game with a great theme
A great family game we normally play this as a family however I have got some more dedicated gamers to play it on game night so this is certainly suitable for 7/8 and way up..The game sees you take the role of court member trying to look after a Panda and a garden for the emperor, the panda was naturally a gift for the emperor. This is quick to setup and put away which is always a bonus in our house and has a great depth of strategy for a family friendly game.

A great game. Ridiculously confusing to understand
A great game. Ridiculously confusing to understand, but you quickly pick it up. No two games are ever the same and it is a great party game. Easy to fall in love with and so well made. One issue I found however is that it was missing one yellow land tile when we purchased it. However this has not impacted on the gameplay.

Make gardens, grow bamboo, feed Panda!
A truly wonderful game. I thought the premise relatively straight forward, make gardens, grow bamboo, feed panda. As the game progresses tactics play a huge part of the game. Multi-taskers will have an advantage, the wife has mastered this one and is current household champion, everyone who loves board games needs this.

May get foreign language edition.
Game pieces as expected but rules written only in Greek. Nowhere in the advertisement was it suggested that this may be a foreign language product. Very embarrassing as this was a gift.
