I use this product as a top-of-soil decorative weed barrier in my outdoor potted plants. I need it to tear easily into various-sized pieces to fit around plants. This worked great! The fibers separate even more easily if you soak it in water for a few minutes. It is not as thick as a some I bought many years ago (giant roll finally ran out), but thicker than most other's I've tried recently. (Nothing is as good as it used to be!) Also, not as dense or plastic-feeling as others I've tried. I'll be ordering several more for future use.

I got this because the preformed basket liners are so poor. Those are very thin and uneven in thickness and they do not hold up well at all. I purchased this flat coir fiber and cut it and pieced it into wire baskets. After some time fitting it into baskets and filling the baskets firmly with soil, they actually came out quite suitable and decent looking. This fiber appears to be much more uniform in thickness than the pre-formed liners. So hopefully these will hold up better than the pre-formed liners.

I am using this product in my wire plant baskets, so I needed to cut it into shape. It is extremely difficult to cut into this product, but I did manage to get through it.
