Great product - very pleased with the result!
Recently bought a table and bench set for the new flat I would be moving into. Picked up a used one and decided to renovate it as a project.Decided to go for this as it provided a finish as well as a stain in 1. Prior to this I had used a clear satin lacquer on a pine coffee table and had been disappointed with the result (despite drying faster and not having to sand between coats).First step was to remove the pre-existing paint/finish off the table. Useful to use a stripper or something abrasive for this. Once removed, I sanded the coat down to a 120 grit finish. Gave it a quick wipe with white spirit and a tack cloth before applying this poly varnish.I must say, I'm extremely pleased with the finish. I ended up giving it 2 coats for good measure (sanding lightly with 200 grit between each coat). I found that it took about 4-6hr to touch dry. I ended up leaving it overnight.Overall it looks beautiful and feels great.Few tips I'd give to any other beginners,1. Make sure you're using a well ventilated room or space that's free from dust.2. Make sure your surface is sanded and smooth.3. If you make a mistake while applying the varnish (e.g. bit too thick or thin)…don't stress to fix it- if you are going to, it has to be done quick as it thickens quite rapidly. If you try to spread a thick patch after some time you ruin the texture and gloss of the finish.4. Pour the amount out that you think you need and avoid dipping brush straight into pot. I used the base of a cut 2L plastic bottle for this. This ensures you don't ruin the varnish and get it to last longer.Hope the review helps people see what kind of finish can be achieved! Very pleased and will definitely be buying again if needed!

Achieves good results with care.
I used this varnish on a white plywood, following all the instructions carefully. I did not find it particularly easy to achieve a uniform colour. The grain shows through, which is attractive and desirable, but it is difficult to "lay off" the varnish such that brush marks are not evident. This has to be done quickly before the varnish starts to dry and "level". I dried each coat overnight in the boiler cupboard, giving a hard finish suitable for sanding. Overall, the result is less even than I would have liked and rather darker than I wanted. The gloss effect is good, however I "tempered" it using fine wire wool and wood polish, for a Matt finish with good smooth appearance and pleasant "feel". I allowed about a week in the boiler cupboard for final drying, thorough hardening and removal of most of the paint odour. This spirit based paint has a strong odour and is best applied in a well-ventilated area. Including the 10 percent thinned coat I used four coats. Any more would have been extremely dark.

Great product
Goes on easy, lovely colour, takes a while to dry but think that will add to the durability. It's quite shiny for a satin finish. I'll buy it again for sure.

Just what I wanted
It's getting difficult to get decent varnish. DIY stores only seem to sell water based stuff which is rubbish. This varnish does a great job

Very Good Value Product
I bought this small can to help with the renovation of a wooden bed frame. I was a little concerned that I'd run out before I finished as it is a large bed and was surprised to find that 2 coats later I still had half a can remaining. It leaves a very even stain and dries very quickly which made the job very easy for me. Furthermore the finish is very nice and appears to be very tough - highly recommended!

Incorrect finsh
Good product but ordered as Satin finish, it states Satin on tin but dries very very glossy. Slightly disappointed.

VERY NICE PRODUCT BUT READ THE INSTRUCTIONS !!!!
This gives wood such warmth and beauty but you need to read the instructions, this varnish is quite thick and needs to be thinned with white spirit (10%) otherwise it can cause patches on your wood.Goes on lovely but is a bit smelly so make sure you open windows and get adequate ventilation otherwise you will be away with the fairies. Also mixing it with white spirit also cuts down the drying time so you can sand it down before a re coat. All in all I am very satisfied with this product and would definitely recommend :)

A éviter !
Peinture chère et pas facile à appliquer. Il a fallu enlever ce vernis du meuble pour en appliquer un de bien meilleure qualité qui, lui, était lavable à l'eau (pour les pinceaux) et surtout, sans odeur.
