No surprises
It is exactly what you think it is. Paperback, physical copy of SIM. Nice to have on hand especially when studying for AFF.

Reading the SIM and knowing it can save your life!
I am familiar with the SIM which is updated often so I try to get my hands on one every year. My manual arrived as promised and I plan to go over it with a fine tooth comb. Once my gear is ready I'll get my knees back up into the breeze ~:0)

Just as described
It’s the SIM and in the correct order, I guess that’s not the case for everyone’s order. I followed the link from USPA and ordered the book.

Exactly as pictured
As a new student in the AFF course working towards my A license, I have loved having this SIM on hand in hard copy. Yes, it’s available for free online, but personally, I retain information much better when I can highlight and take notes in the book. I’d recommend it for anyone else who learns the same way!

Printed incorrectly!
"You had one job"Amazon started as an online bookstore / publisher, so you would think they could get this right. These SIMs are printed incorrectly in that the pages are on the wrong side. The document was set up to print the "forms / downloads" page on the inside cover, but they left the inside cover blank and printed that page as the first paper stock page. This means all the page numbers and section tags are in the middle (towards the binding) rather than outboard where you can easily see them as you're flipping through pages. This makes it harder to find what you're looking for. Another issue with this is that wide tables like the "Higher Altitude Planning Chart" are back to back, rather than facing pages so you can read it without flipping back and forth. The original SIM was in a binder. That was great because you could add pages, tabs, pockets, or easily take out the pages you needed for a lesson, and put them back when you were done. Then they did spiral bound. While you lose the functionality of the binder, at least you could flip it all the way around and hold it with one hand on the page you needed. That's actually pretty useful, making it much easier to hold in one hand. This new format is visually pretty and more compact than previous editions, but it can't do any of the binder or spiral bound tricks. In fact it doesn't even lay flat on a table when open for reading. The SIM is USPA's most important and most-used document. The information is great, and well organized. Some people complain that it's boring to read cover to cover, but it's not meant to be used that way. (We don't need to spend a bunch of member money so some BoD member's pet company can have a make work project. It's fine.)I haven't purchased a SIM in a couple decades, mainly using the PDF, and the early version of the app. But I bought this 2023-24 edition in good faith, and I'm not impressed.
