Buy The Only Academic Phrasebook You'll Ever Need: 600 Examples of Academic Language (Academic English Unlocked) 1 by Barros, Luiz Otavio (ISBN: 9781539527756) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: A useful addition to your academic English bookshelf - I think this book is best for high-int/advanced English speakers who need tips to improve their academic writing. There is of course the abundance of writing support tools such as Grammarly and other AI-supported tools that can make corrections for the kind of issues that this book presents. Plus, there is the online Academic Phrase Bank by Manchester University that is a free go-to reference for academic phrases. However, this book's strength is managing to not get out of control in terms of the possible scope of an academic writing book, as well as in the way language items are succinctly chunked and explained. I particularly like the "trick pairs" of words and the quizzes, as these feel like original sticky points. As I went along, I was wondering what the basis for the language selection featured in the book was. It wasn't until I got to the end that the author explains that the compilation is the result of painstaking work through thousands of actual papers across different disciplines. That elevates the quality of the book, and that information should have been presented earlier on. I also think that there could be some schematics at the beginning that concisely explain general essay structures. I also think that some comments about British/American English and passive/active voice divisions should have been qualified by the fact that these are often down to a particular publication's or institution's style preferences. Review: Very handy to have - Very happy with this book. Its easy to read and I cam easily find what I need when I need to go back to it. I highly recommend it.

Great book!
I bought this book to help my daughter with her university essays. It is a great book, easy to use and I would recommend it for anyone who needs a little help to formulate a well written essay.

Useful examples
There are quite useful examples but the structure of the book is not well designed. I was expecting more but still helping anyway.

A Brilliant Little Guide
Luiz has done what many of us which we had - kept a list of the most useful academic phrases to reference during our studies. The student can either use the phrase as is, or as a prompt for their own sentence. Whilst I normally buy physical books for academia, this really is well suited for kindle. Easy to pick up, straightforward searching... it’s a winner.

It's basically a phrasebook. Great tool, though in my opinion more useful for science students.

Muito bem organizado, o livro é ótimo para quem precisa aprimorar a escrita em inglês. Os exemplos são realmente muito bons e é possível consultar os temas e encontrar a melhor forma de expressar uma ideia de maneira clara e precisa. Recomendo sem restrições.
