Plugable 7-Port USB 3.0 Hub with 36W Power Adapter - Driverless - Effortlessly Connect Devices and Transfer Data at High Speeds

I am impressed! I had 3 peripherals that I had been connecting and disconnecting as needed, and of course always had to turn off the computer to do so. I set up this port, turned on the computer and it was recognized right away...then, the real test, I connected my back up drive (2T), my data drive (1), and my old cd external drive. One by one they each appeared in the drive list! This is great and all without any errors. Thank you Plugable!

I've bought two of these now. They are well made and come with a decent power supply. The case is plastic but plenty strong. Power switch on the back powers the whole unit; the individual ports do NOT have on/off switches. The included USB 3 cable is nice and thick. The unit is a simple rectangular design that allows you to stack a couple of them if you need a whole lot of ports. I like that the power cable and USB in are on the back: that allows you to mount it on the back of your desk neatly allowing access to the extra ports. I had an issue with the second unit (after a couple months of use it would not talk to any computer I tried plugging it into) and the return/replacement could not have been easier. Quick chat and email and they delivered a new, working one to me quickly and without hassle. Obviously I would have rather had a 100% dependable unit, but they made good quickly on the issue. I'll continue to buy Plugable products.

I spent more on a USB hub because I wanted quality and longevity. If you bump this thing the slightest bit, the USB will cycle. Both my son and I are using it on our systems and are both facing this same issue. It's very annoying when I'm trying to get work done and the keyboard is cycling because something got brushed by a mouse fart. I should have returned, but recabling is super annoying so we are making due. My son was able to get his in a place where it won't be accidently bumped. I am using a velco command strip to keep mine 100% stable and out of the way. For $39.99 each, this should not be the case. Do better, Plugable. I gave it a 3 star because when it is working, it works well. 3/18/2024 Update: The hub suddenly failed keep my camera powered on and connected after 11 months. I reached out to Pluggable and they did some troubleshooting and reviewed the device logs. They very quickly and without hassle replaced the device and all is well again in my world. Because of their excellent customer service, I am upping my overall rating to a 4. While it is still finicky if I bump it, it does work perfectly most of the time.

I ended up getting this Pluggable USB hub after looking extensively for one that had QC ports that were also actual USB ports. Most of the hubs with charging ports, the charging ports are not USB, just charging ports. This one actually has two ports that can deliver a fairly rapid charge AND also connect to the parent USB port, making it perfect for charging AND connecting phones without swapping ports. Also, those ports work great on a USB powered Blu Ray drive without having to use extra power plug. I did have to exchange my first one as the left charge port didn't connect to USB (but it did charge), the replacement is working excellent. I also like the ports are on the side, making the jumble of cables more manageable than pointing upwards. Not full 3A USB-C charging speed, but I do at least get a "charging" indicator on my Pixel, instead of the "slowly charging" I get from other powered hubs. Overall, it has excellent features and works well for the price.

This has been a workhorse for my spouse's home office. We first bought one in 2022, and it worked flawlessly. We've connected a VGA monitor (USB-A to VGA adapter), scanner, and two printers (laser and thermal label printer) through the unpowered ports, which left us with the two powered ports for charging and an extra for a thumb drive. It worked flawlessly for 3 years. The original one stopped working last week. Not sure if it was just dead, or if it was the only house casualty of a power outage caused by high wind, but it was DOA. We looked locally for a replacement because we needed one fast, and could not find one that had this many ports for less than $150. Fortunately, I found one with fewer ports that could get my spouse through to a delivery of the new one. Highly recommended, it's the best one I've found for this price. I also appreciate the design, with the power plug on the opposite side of the USB plugs. The one I found locally has the plug jack on the same side as the USB ports, which is awkward to have on a desk.

This unit arrived quickly, well packaged, and in excellent condition. The unit works perfectly as advertised, unless attached to a router port... Purchased this for use with the TP-LInk Archer C5400 w/USB 3.0. The ideas was to plug-in two 500gb laptop drives using the hub's external power supply. Attaching three different brand hubs stopped data transfer. Caution to TP-Link router owners: Even after significant time with TP-Link technical support, the router did not regonize the drive attached using this hub. Replaced the HDD with a 1GB thumb drive. Still did not regonize the hub devices. I also tired two other brand 4-port hubs both powered and passive. No luck. This review is to warn TP-Link router owners that TP-Link is not honest about the limitations of the USB ports on the router. The TP-Link router is underpowered and can only power a total of 0.86 mva to a single data device at a time. So any USB device(s) that rely on power to operate more than just communication is subject to the risk of not working. It's the router. Not this hub.

This is a well-made, fully featured hub. The black plastic has a clean, simple practical shape. The printed logo is unobtrusive. The indicator lights are blue and small, bright enough to see, but not distracting. The on/off switch is a power saver and a safety feature in the event of the need for an emergency shutdown of the attached devices. The USB ports are spaced far enough apart to make plugin and pullout of the connectors easy. The power cord leading to the transformer and the cord leading from the hub to the computer are long enough to allow for convenient placement of the hub. The power supply is strong. I have used four external SATA hard drives simultaneously along with a USB powered fan and they all worked perfectly, recognized immediately and files read and transferred without problem. I cannot speak to transfer rate because I use this with an old (Dell Latitude 830) computer with USB 2.0 ports on a Windows XP system. I am satisfied that this is one of the best, if not the best, USB 3.0 hub on the market.

There are reports of these hubs failing. Okay, that happens. And, as it turns out it happened to me. Okay, that happens. But in my case it failed in the worst possible way: It destroyed everything attached to it. Two small disk drives and a Raspberry Pi 4. That is poor engineering. Possibly I was drawing too much power. If so the proper thing to do is to detect that and shutdown. If that is too much to ask for, the next best thing to do is to fail on the model of blowing a fuse: I drew too much power and broke it. This product took a third path: Run just fine for months, then fail in the worst possible way, destroying everything connected to it. That is bad engineering. Irresponsible. Incompetent, Do not buy.

Excellent! from the minute I connected my devices (backup drives) it made a big difference of backup speed. No bottleneck anymore!! And a great function: the power button at the back. I don't have to disconnect my drives anymore. Just turn the hub on and off.

Muy confiable, estable, proporciona poder extra en dos de los 7 puertos y funciona excelente con una Mac 2018 y una M1. Yo tengo dos de estos conectados al modelo de la misma marca pero que es Dock station (Plugable 14 en 1 USB-C y Thunderbolt 3 Dock) y ademas dos hubs mas sin poder de 4 cada uno marca generico. Con eso conecto tengo 36 dispositivos conectados de manera MUY estable, ademas de dos monitores de 55" e interface de audio.

Easy installation and works well

Works great out of the box, and the BC 1.2 charging ports function as expected. Plugable's support and communication is also fantastic. The firmware updates, compatibility verification, and actual detailed information about the design and engineering of the products on their website is reason enough to choose Plugable over any of the other options. I used this to move all of my USB 3.0 devices from motherboard ports to the powered hub, as my HTC Vive was having random disconnection problems and sometimes one of the wireless receivers wouldn't be detected in it. Turns out I was actually out of USB bus power from the motherboard ports, and moving a bunch of devices to the powered hub fixed it all right up.
