Lake Mary

This book looks at the beginnings of Lake Mary in the 1800s up to about the first mayor election in the 1970's. There is a good collection of early photographs, including a picture of the city's namesake and the first families in the area, whose community development appeared to have reached throughout Seminole County. This would be a great book for Seminole County students to read and anyone interested in the pioneering of Central Florida. Some of the pictures and captions even had me laughing, while others had me surprised as I discovered how little I knew about life in early Florida. Nothing seemed superfluous; all the information seemed uniquely informative when considering previous and subsequent pages. This book is a great addition to the Images of America series, which have all been excellent from what I've read.
