The cost of heating oil in the Northeast is still crazy high. I typically choose a provider and lock in a rate for the season. If you choose a cap plan, then you pay a lower rate when oil prices drop. But you pay extra to lock in on a cap plan. There are websites that allow you to order oil on demand and I thought I would give that a try this season. I was just concerned about having to monitor my oil level. So I thought I would give this a try. I had some challenges with initial setup and was about to return. But I Googled it and turns out the issue was with my iPhone. I had to reset a few things on my phone and then was able to connect easily. I have only been using for a few weeks now and it has maintained connection nicely. Cannot say how accurate it is, but readings seem pretty close to the manual gauge on my tank. I look forward to monitoring my oil usage over time. I scheduled my first on demand oil delivery today for 3.20 a gallon - way lower than what others are paying. So with this one delivery I just paid for this device! Really hoping this continues to work well for years to come!

This is an update 1:If you simply want tank level and gallons readout the app is ok. The graph level and usage options are buggy and don't work. The gallons per hour hasn't moved from 0.2 for three days and the gallons used math isn't adding up correctly. No customer support.Update 2: The level transmitter worked ok for about two weeks after installing. Now its going off line pretty regularly, three times in 5 days. The only way to get it communicating is to reinstall it in the app. Reinstalling you lose any previous saved level data. Can't send back it's beyond the 30 day return window. Going to reach out to customer service. Will update.Update 3: Down grade to one star. Unit is going offline once a day. Yes battery is good. Contacted customer support no response. Don't waste your money.

I previously bought one that was $20-30 dollars cheaper on Amazon. That thing was an absolute nightmare to set up.After the first fill-up, it stopped reading. Couldn't get it to work again after several frustrating hours. Quite upset ! I checked back on that one and the reviews went to 2.8 stars from when I bought it...This was more money, but I should have spent more the first time and got the right one. 4.4 stars, good reviews (can tell they aren't "bot" reviews).It came in today.Unscrewed the old one, screwed this one in.THIS ONE CAME WITH BATTERIES!!Turned my phone Bluetooth on, and flipped the on switch. Pressed the button 3 times, and it was paired in less than 3 minutes !!!!!In the app, I hit the refresh button and pushed the button on the unit, and got an accurate reading - as same as the float gauge !Screwed the cap on, went up to the second floor apartment, and it was still working well !All the hours and anger I could have saved if I just bought this one first... I'm out the money for the other one, but a lesson learned. Sometimes you gotta spend a little more to get something decent. Five stars !!!

So far works pretty well. Installed with a strap wrench to not gouge up the outer tube which is nicely polished (aluminum?), but other than that pretty simple to install into the tank. Not sure about the accuracy, as it doesn't exactly match the mechanical gauge on my tank. Since I have not gone through a full tank of oil yet, I cannot tell which is more accurate- this smart gauge or the mechanical gauge. Either way it is close enough for me to judge how much oil is left and not run out before I call for a refill. I have not figured out how to recalibrate to account for my oil dual tanks, but it shows a percent oil left, so that is a good judge of oil capacity.

I would give this a higher rating except that the instructions should give an explanation of how it functions and be a bit more detailed in set up and options. I could not set it up myself so I was about to send it back when my son in law who has a degree in computer science offered to help. It took him a little over a half hour to figure out that I had to set it up to the blue tooth on my phone rather than my home router. Now it works well but I have to be home to refresh the readings. It is still better than going to the basement to get a manual reading.

So far so good with this device. Wireless setup was quick and not very difficult. The threading was a bit tricky to guide into the plug hole but I think I managed to screw it in securely enough. The oil level readings match up with my manual gauge so it seems reliable so far.

Why. The trouble shooting mentions starting engine. This is for an oil tank, heating fuel. If this is not designed for that the description needs to mention that. I am throughly done with this and have a computer guy trying to get it to work. If not then it will be returned but hopeful he can research it and find a solution.

I'm obsessed. I can't stop checking the app. Easy to install and very affordable. Warns you when your low on oil. Keeps you informed of your average oil usage.
