What keeps us fighting despite desperate for peace
Received this big boy knowing it would last. Reading a few pages when time permitted. Forget it!Started reading at 11:30am. Suddenly realized it was after 8pm! You journey 3D into what it was/is like to go on scavenger hunts in starving African villages and what’s left of war devastated European cities. Hoping to find critical supplies for your fighting brothers. Continually relocating. Witnessing the death, anger, desperation, fortitude and acts of revenge in newly liberated towns. Helping homeless, devoted, dogs & cats that lost their family but not their devotion or humorous antics. Going above and beyond for heartbroken civilians brutalised by Nazi’s. Connecting with God in whatever spot a service could be held. Blowing off steam with buddies and booze in local haunts. Relishing letters & edibles from home. Navigating the red tape and personalities of the war machine.….Always, always devotedly writing letters to love & home about all of it. This is not the typical war story of bombs, flack, guts, guns, loss & victory. This book teleports readers into a vivid historic experience. Feeling what it is to be ripped from everything you love. Only to be dropped into a reality with few threads to the comforts of the world you knew. Infuriatingly you then find you have an extra target on your back because of your Jewish cultural heritage. A heritage that is being sickeningly, methodically erased. This is Dave’s reality. But you feel as if it is yours. The flame that ignites in Dave is contagious.Don’t worry - the ending is gratifying!
