For the manager that wants to know when to coach and when to instruct (& all the point in-between)
I’ve been really getting into both of Julie's books, they have meant I’m able to get back up to speed on my coaching (both The Coaching Manual and Brilliant Coaching), due to the nature of my work, I’m able to both listen to them and then read them later. It’s made such a difference to my level of certainty and confidence when I coach. Therefore, I really can’t thank her enough for doing what you do.

Really practical guide, lots of ‘how to’ and handy hints
I’ve read a few books on coaching and this is the first I’d say that has actually changed what I’m doing in a client conversation. Some of the ideas are simple but what makes them work is when you put a few together and see how conversations turn out completely differently. I’m a health coach and while much of this is aimed at people managing in business, I found most of the principles fit into what I’m trying to do which is have clients get their own lightbulb moments rather than me trying to convince them with advice, I’ve already started dipping back in to recap some of the quick tip lists, which are handy as a set up for a call, and the steppingstones model is something I’m using most days.

Excellent book with practical tips that you can implement
I found this book easy to read and very practical in its approach. Since reading it I’ve certainly been able to take a lot of what I learnt into my conversations at work. It helped me understand how to adapt my style to have coaching conversations and I’m already seeing the benefits.

By far the best book on the subject.
Really liked the book, easy to grasp ideas and principles, plus the ‘hints and tips’ boxes make them easy to put into practice straight away, in particular, the explanation of how to ask questions was so useful. I’ve got a pretty small team and I wasn’t sure if the coaching stuff would work for all of them, anyway it sort of does and you need to stay flexible. I’ve read a couple of books on the subject, and this is by far the best.
