Aquatic Chemistry Concepts, Second Edition

Much chemistry, very reaction. Wow, so aquatic.

This book is really good at explaining concepts in easily accessible way. I sat down to study and started reading the book and taking notes and suddenly realized I was done with the chapter and 2 hours had passed an I actually felt like I understood the content and didn't even realize that time had past.The examples are very well worked through and help tie the text of the book to the equations and they're real world applicability. If you are a professor of aquatic chemistry I would use this book, if you are someone who just wants to learn about acid/base reactions, redox reactions, and aquatic chemistry concepts, this is a really good tool.Dr.Pankow wrote the text of this book in a similar style to how he lectures so the text reads in a similar way to how a good professor would lecture. 15/10 would recommend this book and 100/10 recommend taking a lecture or academic course ran by Dr. Pankow.

I was thrilled to learn that a second edition of James Pankow's Aquatic Chemistry Concepts was available. I had the privilege of using the first edition of this textbook during my own graduate studies, and have relied heavily on the first edition for teaching concepts in undergraduate and graduate Environmental Engineering courses. My undergraduate and graduate students also find the worked example problems instructional for guiding their approach to problem solving. The new edition retains the same clear explanations and step-by-step problem solving, without sacrificing necessary complexity or comprehensive treatment of water chemistry. In addition, the new addition brings new focus to modern problems and a new set of practice and example problems. I *highly* recommend this textbook for undergraduate and graduate teaching and research.

This is THE textbook to get if you want to learn and thoroughly understand aquatic chemistry. The text is easy (even enjoyable) to read and the author provides relatable (often humorous) examples to illuminate concepts taking place at the molecular/atomic level. The book is organized such that tougher concepts easily build off earlier chapters without making the reader feel lost. The author has a knack for enabling readers to comprehend and retain complex material almost effortlessly, so I absolutely recommend this book!

I purchased the first edition as required for graduate level aquatic chemistry in 95/96. The first edition provided an excellent basis for understanding the chemical processes that are fundamentally relevant to the environmental consulting professional. Reviewing the second edition, I find additional information, more explanation, and relevant updates. I highly recommend this book for environmental consulting professionals at any level of their career, and for academics providing applied environmental chemistry education.

Buy this textbook if you want to learn the fundamentals of aquatic chemistry - and some amazing methods for solving these problems in Excel - from a genuine MASTER. I've had the privilege of having Dr. Pankow as my professor and his amazing teaching skills really shine through in the writing of his textbook.

This textbook explains concepts extremely well and has wonderful examples. I highly recommend getting this if you want to understand aquatic chemistry. Easily the best textbook I have ever encountered.

Well organized, great visuals, walks you through the concepts and applications with examples, well documented, good real-life examples. I love this book.
