Men Without Women: The Original Classic Edition by Ernest Hemingway - Unabridged and Annotated For Modern Readers and Book Clubs

Great collection of short stories written in true Hemingway form.

I can't really explain my attitude in regard to Hemingway's writing. Some stories are so detailed that they are like reading the script of a play with all the stage direction notes included. Other times, I feel like there is a secret between the characters and author that is unknown to the reader. The world has changed so much since he wrote, that I am necessarily trying to assess writing from an era unknown to me and cannot put it into context. All that said, his writing remains fascinating to me.

I expected it to be better then it was. I was disappointed with all the stories left open ended. They were more like character studies or just practicing his craft. I think I expected too much from these stories.

This author is supposed to be a great writer? This is one of the worst books I have ever read. It was a complete waste of money.
