SMALLRIG Universal Camera LWS Baseplate Base Plate with Dual 15mm Rod Clamp - 3357

This baseplate has become the foundation of my Sony FX30 filmmaking setup. I originally bought it to convert my camera into a proper 15mm LWS rig, and it's been absolutely faultless. I use it with SmallRig 15mm carbon fibre rods, which support my DJI Focus Pro motors, lens support and other accessories. It provides a rigid, reliable platform that keeps everything aligned, even as the rig has evolved over time. The machining and build quality are exactly what I'd expect from SmallRig. Everything fits together precisely, the rod clamps hold securely, and once everything is tightened down there's no unwanted movement or flex. Even with a fairly heavily accessorised camera, it feels incredibly solid. What I like most is how straightforward it is to use. The camera mounts securely, the rods slide in smoothly and lock firmly in place, and it provides a solid foundation for building out a cinema-style rig. I've configured and reconfigured my setup countless times, and it's remained just as dependable as the day I bought it. I've also added shaft collars to my 15mm rods so I can quickly return both the rods and my DJI Focus Pro motors to exactly the same position every time I rebuild the rig. This baseplate provides a consistent reference point that makes the whole process fast and repeatable. Over the last year I've built my entire camera system around this baseplate, and it's never given me a reason to question it. If you're looking to build a serious cinema-style rig around a mirrorless camera, I'd highly recommend it. It's exceptionally well made and provides a rock-solid platform for everything else to attach to.

Only downside over the old version is not quick release! But works great with the bmpcc6k pro smallrig cage.

I bought this for my GH5 rig to allow easy fixing of a follow focus wheel with different lenses. It works like a charm but - and it's a deal breaker but - it's no use for the GH5 as it's impossible to change the battery with the plate fitted. As with most Smallrig kit it's well made, sturdy and very good value for money. The rod clamps run the full length of the plate on each side ensuring they are clamped securely, and there's plenty mounting options for both camera and tripod plate mounting. The plate would work well for the BMPCC or 6K (which I think it's designed for however it does say 'universal') with the battery compartment away out to the side, but unfortunately I had to return mine. The Smallrig 1674 rod mounting plate works great with the GH5, the battery cover rubs a bit against the right rod but it opens fully. Note that unless you use a spacer between the camera and the plate you'll not be able to use rod attachments such as lens supports or matte boxes as there is very little clearance between the rods and the lens. Great for a follow focus or a battery mount at the rear though.

I wanted a base plate that wasn’t too large and not too small. This is just the right size for my rig and works great.

I have another baseplate but it's hard to use because the the placement of the screw holes and how tall the baseplate is. But this one fits the tripod and allows for 15mm rail to be added with no hassle and trouble. It's the best small 15mm rod plate that I've ever had. It's light-weight, and super sturdy. Works like a charm and is a very good price. I put this on a high end tripod and mount the BMPCC 6k Pro on it. I have also mounted a pretty heavy iPad teleprompter on the front and large (195) Gold mount batteries on the back of the rods. Absolutely held up with perfect stability and no problems.

Piastra per agganciare una fotocamera ad un sistema a binari da 15mm. Inizialmente ero leggermente scettico per le sedi dei tubi aperte, ma non ho ravvisato nessun difetto nell'utilizzo. Molto utile la doppia vite di fissaggio per le fotocamere predisposte, evita qualsiasi possibilità di torsione. Presenti ulteriori punti di aggancio filettati per il fissaggio di altri accessori.
