Haidee-Jo is a professional artist who specialises in painting in oils. She works as much as possible 'en plein air', has excellent drawing skills and produces fresh and vibrant paintings which glow with light and colour. In this film she chooses to paint on the Roseland Peninsula, one of her favourite parts of Cornwall. She selects seascapes - boats at anchor and a muddy estuary at low tide. Other subjects include a sunlit garden shed surrounded by flowers and a quirky scene of an old milking parlour and shed.

Delightful!
This DVD is a delight! The artist takes us on a journey that helps us to explore opportunities through oil painting.I tend to overpaint myself and more than anything I found the direct painting approach where one stroke makes the point invaluable.I do feel that beginners could be inspired by her approach as it is always beneficial to learn from someone who is masterful in their approach to the medium of oil painting

Ideal for loosen up your painting style, friendly and informative
This excellent DVD teaches you how to really look at your subject. Haidee-Jo's paintings are loose and impressionistic. This isn't a basic step by step tutorial (there are plenty of others around if that's what you want) but her friendly and informative manner is an enormous help in learning how to both loosen up your painting style. It makes you look and think about the beauty in your surroundings, and helps you to work out how to get that down on canvas. I've found this DVD very useful and user friendly - recommended!

A must watch for professional and amateur plein air painters alike...
I love this video!! I purchased it as a download and have to say I am so pleased it did as I have it handy in my phone whenever I need to refer to it whilst I am out and about.I got it because I wanted to improve my plein air painting techniques having spent a lot of time closeted in the studio. The approach to both types of painting are totally different and Haidee Jo helps you understand the importance of working quickly because of the changing light but importantly on how to create your composition, usually with a quick sketch, how to observe and work out your focal points and she is amazingly good at simplifying the scene in front of her. There are also a number of tips if you listen carefully; how to paint clouds to create movement, why it's important to commit a view to memory, covering your canvas to create an initial impression and much much more.Highly recommended!

A DVD for any artist, budding artists or followers of English painters.
A well filmed and presented DVD that takes the viewer to several locations and observe the construction of some quite superb paintings . Filmed in some beautiful parts of Cornwall, Haidee - Jo Summers takes you on a journey to understand how she achieves her style of painting and see it develop through her eyes and thoughts. I really liked the instructional way it is presented to see what Haidee-Jo is painting and why that subject was selected. The colours are fantastic and a DVD I will never tire of viewing , highly recommended to any lovers of the English sea and landscape.

Great for developing your fresh impressionist style

I highly recommend this dvd to any inspiring painter
This instructional dvd holds you spellbound from the beginning to the end. Her style of painting is loose and impressionistic, she has the ability to say exactly what she wants to say with the minimum of brush strokes. Her understanding of the use of colour is astounding as is her ability to convey light. Through this dvd she has inspired me to be more adventurous, I hope there will be more dvd's to collect in the future as I watch this one so much. I highly recommend this dvd to any inspiring painter.
