Fits old Vermont Castings SDV30R perfectly
This was way too easy. Years ago, we bought a Vermont Castings SDV30R stove. Recently decided to add a fan. I was amazed to find someone still made a fan after all these years. Our model stove needs a FK26 fan kit. This unit is a direct bolt on, with no modifications. It attaches to the stove with 2 bolts/screws. The supplied bolts were too long for our stove, but we didn’t need them since the original mounting screws were already on the stove. Same with the bolt used to attach the thermostat L-bracket, already there. Only glitch was the self tapping screws were too large for the predrilled bracket holes. There isn’t a mounting bracket on our stove to hold the supplied speed control, easy to add. Much easier to install if you remove the whole Rear Shroud. The fan noise is very noticeable on high speed, not bad around medium, silent on low. This type of speed control produces a 60 cycle hum in the motor on the lower speeds, just like a buzzy light dimmer. Probably normal but annoying. It moves a solid stream of warm air on any speed. Really evened out the heat in our sunroom and we even lowered our thermostat. The fan comes on after the stove heats up and it stays on. It won’t automatically shut off until the stove has been off for awhile and cooled down. This is normal. It doesn’t waste any of the residual heat in the stove. The top of our stove used to be too hot to touch. With the fan installed, it’s cool. I noticed with the fan running, the flames got larger and more orange. Fan was effecting the fire. I sealed the two round top vent covers on our model with red high temp gasket sealer. There are no instructions. Two sources on the interned are close, but just use the existing screws and bolt and it’s not hard. We didn’t need the supplied right angle bracket or most or the hardware. Should have added this years ago. Remember, LET THE STOVE COOL OFF BEFORE INSTALLING THIS.

Perfect fit, works great
I bought this for my dutchwest model 2478, it fit perfect, there are no instructions so be prepared, there are 2 screws on the back of the stove, take them out and use them to mount the fan or get some washers because the bolts supplied are too long, use the angle bracket to mount the heat sensor, he control knob will mount below the handle holder, take off the knob, remove the nut and bracket, put in the hole of the handle holder bracket screw on nut and push knob back on, mine works great, had a little cold snap after I installed it and it really moves the heat around, it take time for it to come on, remember its heat activated after you turn it on

Vermont Castings (Part 30000879) Replacement Blower Unit - Great Product
For the $194 price tag it's well worth going with an aftermarket fan manufacturer. As many of the other reviews I have read on Amazon, this is not an OEM replacement part but it comes in very close to the original. I searched the internet numerous time for a Vermont Castings FK26 fan (part # 30000879) only to turn up prices from $391 to well over $600. I was disgusted and out off replacing my very noisy and aged (15 years) blower for my Vermont Castings RDV0D gas fired stove.Other reviews stated the wire length is shorter than the original as well as a thinner guage wire - I concur with those comments however, for my application it did not impact my installation. The reviews also stated there were no instructions included, whihch was fine because I was doing a one for one swap-out. I mainted all the original screws/fasteners and the previous units brackets. I will tell you for the Vermon Castings RDV0D stove, this would be a bit of a nightmare to install new (non-replacement).The wiring is also not protected with the over-wrap cloth wire sleeve like the original - I removed the original and installed back onto this unit as an extra added protection. After mounting the unit to the two bolts on the lower back of the stove, I routed the thermocouple up into the back of the unit and used the inlcuded bracket. They supply several metal screws that are flat head screwdriver heads - anyone that has ever tried to use a flathead to install a metal screw knows you will kill yourself trying to cut through the metal, I went to the old spare parts drawer in my toolbox and found some smaller machine thread, slotted flat head screws, enlarged the holes on the bracket and quickly assembled a sturdy/tight thermocouple. Will what they give you work? Sure it will, but its not going to be fun or fast! After wiring everything up, I plugged the unit in and waited for the temperature in the stove to come up. I anxiously waited to see if the nreplacement unit was nearly as bad/loud as the one I removed... NOT EVEN CLOSE!!! The blower ramped up, moved hot air and wasnt loud at all. I'm thirlled that what was a very noisy original 15 year old unit that sits in a very active home theater room in my house is now in the TRASH.Very pleased overall - only reason I gave 4 start over 5 is that for someone that is not very mechanically inclined or has the ability to modify on the fly, it would be a challenge without instructions.

Quality product and simple installation.
I bought this product for my Dutchwest non-catalytic wood stove, model 2478. At first I was confused by the drawings in the manual for stove, because the drawing doesn't show the blower in it's final location. The drawing very clearly shows the two screws where the blower mount. The kit comes with a couple of bags of parts, so it apparently fits other stoves as well. The wires for the fan speed control are too short for my stove, but I think it will be a simple matter to splice in more wire. The installation is simple. This blower should also fit the model 2477 and 2479 wood stoves. The seller at MN Warehouse Deal is extremely responsive to questions.

It works as well as the old. The cord ...
It works as well as the old. The cord is shorter (about 4 feet in length vs 6 feet)than the old one and a cheaper grade of cable. Now i am going to have to reuse the old cord.
