Great OBDII Scanner!
This is a small but mighty OBDII bluetooth scanner. Simply download the app, plug in the bluetooth module, pair and you're ready to check multiple functions through your OBDII part on your car or truck. I've included several images of the interface so you have an idea of what is available. This scanner not only includes the ability to read codes, you can check on the vehicle's smog status (to see if your car is "ready" for a smog test). That's really important if there have been any repairs made to systems that need to cycle before a smog test. While you may not have a MIL after repairs or clearing codes, the systems need time to reset and be ready for a smog test. This unit could save you a trip and wait in line at the testing facility versus getting sent home. It also has the ability to run individual "live data" tests for more advanced trouble shooting. Novice users will like the simplicity of the main screens, while more advanced users might prefer the live data for items such as O2 sensors, speed sensors, EGR, fuel rate, etc. An unexpected surprise was the ability for this unit to provide "Mode $06" diagnostics. I haven't spent a lot of time with this but found it incredibly valuable for older OBDII cars that might not have the full support of modern vehicles like my son's 96 Cobra Mustang. If you know about Mode $06, you know it takes some research into what codes represent which PIDs, but it's great to have that information in such a small and cost effective unit. Finally, it has some neat features like tracking status driving data that shows RPM, coolant temp, mph, fuel consumed and fuel remaining, total mileage, battery voltage, intake temp, etc. It also has some dashboard features you can use for real time display and the lag time between the unit and actual vehicle activity was very low in my testing. Just for fun my friend and I used the acceleration test and felt it was quite accurate - at least he was pleased with the results. I think we'll have more fun with it in the future. One time saving tip I found, when you go to pair to a different vehicle it asks you to scan the QR code of the bluetooth unit. Well, that's not an option when it's plugged into the OBDII port so I just kept the box it came in and scanned the QR code on the side of the box - it's the same and super easy access. Keep in mind, this is not a full on diagnostic scanner in terms of being bi-directional or able to address systems such as TPMS nor should you expect that at this price. But it is a very good scanner to read codes and get real knowledge to help you when service is required and what you should expect to fix or have fixed by a trusted mechanic. To date, I have used this on my wife's 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee, my Dodge Ram 2500 diesel, and 2019 Chevrolet Tahoe RXT. I will definitely keep this in my car whenever I travel and at this price, you could buy more than one if you have vehicles in different places or want to track the daily activity of your vehicle(s).

AD20 does its job better than I ever expected
I am a passionate DIY mechanic and an engineer by training. I originally bought an Xtool D8 because it has capabilities that rival many dealer level service departments. It cost me several hundred dollars and I think it is an exceptional value with amazing capabilities and outstanding customer service the few times I needed it. I purchased an Xtool AD20 recently to complement my Xtool D8. I was looking for a simple and inexpensive way to monitor my vehicle by leaving it on the vehicle. I was immediately impressed with the capabilities of the AD20. After an initial hiccup getting it to connect (which was completely my fault for not reading instructions properly) I connected it to my 2008 Buick Lucerne. This car has the 3.8 Liter engine and is my daily driver. My expectations were not high because the price was so low at less than $30. I was simply wrong. This inexpensive tool is exceptional. I am amazed at the abilities for such a low price. The unit has an easy to use interface which even the least technical among us can easily understand. The AD20 conducts tests without needing to know all the minute technical details normally associated with more expensive scanners. I used the scanner to diagnose and repair an engine miss problem that resulted from a bad ignition coil on the number 3 cylinder. I also located an intermittent evaporative leak caused from a bad gasket on my gas cap. I left the scanner attached and now use it once a week or more to perform in depth performance testing. I have included screen shots of the functions. While taking these screen shots, I found there is even more to the unit than I knew. It has most of the highly technical capabilities like “live data” and “Mode 6” which allow an experienced mechanic to evaluate complex engine functions and evaluate performance before a failure occurs. Normally these and some of the other details are reserved for much more expensive machines. The best part is that you don’t have to know everything to get a great deal of information since the diagnostic programming is highly automated. You can even connect to the internet and get probable cause explanations for almost any failure code. I am going to buy a AD20 for every vehicle I own. Though you can move it from vehicle to vehicle, I think it is so handy and the price so cheap, that I want one on every care we drive. This weekend I am teaching my 8 year old grandson to use the AD20 in his mother’s car. I am completely confident he can learn it quickly and use it effectively. I am planting the seeds of desire to fix things in him and the simplicity combined with the in depth capabilities of the AD20 make it the perfect tool to teach him with. As an added bonus, the phone based APP system is always up to date with the latest software improvements. Buy it. It will save you money and give you peace of mind.

Some nice features, Some issues.
This is an update to the previous review and I don't know what will remain of the original. I am upgrading the item to 4 stars. Customer service has been quite responsive and has been pursuing getting issues resolved. There are still some glitches with the app or product that need to be addressed. The trip data has some interesting statistics. I haven't had much time to play with any of the advanced features. It will reset check engine lights. Once the app gets tuned up it promises to be a good product. The software and/or reader can only be registered to ONE userid.
