Good for the price
These aren't the highest quality ankle gaiters you can buy, but for the price they are great. I hike a lot in the desert and needed something to keep the weeds and thorns out of my socks. I decided to give these a try because they are cheap and I'm glad I did. Not sure how long the straps underneath will last but the clip on the front can be attached to shoe laces to help keep it in place. They are also easy to put on with the velcro closure. So far they have made my hikes much more comfortable.

Straight-cut bottom edge causes them to ride up.
A lot to like about these gaiters which are fashioned out of an attractive light but inelastic rip-stop nylon. (Mine were a shiny royal blue). Unfortunately, the cut is a bit too simple (see "details", below) so they don't work how I was hoping they would. The front of the shoe pushes the front of the gaiter up leaving ankles (or socks) exposed in the case of low cut shoes (exactly like those shown in product photo). The combo of being pushed up in front and held down at the sides (by the 'U' tether), causes them to bunch up just above the ankles, rather than fitting smoothly.I was hoping to use these to keep prickers and burrs out of my ankle in the tall-grass prairie, while still wearing low cut shoes. The ones I replaced them with are a bit more expensive but are cut so that they protect not only my ankles but also extend forward to cover the laces. I will review those when I get a chance to wear them in the field a few hours.DETAILS: Top and bottom are parallel and fit with an elastic cord to keeps them snug to your calf and ankle. Side cuts are also straight but angled ever so slightly so that the bottom edge is about an inch longer than the top, the idea being that the top of your boot or shoe is a bit wider than the leg above it.(The overall shape is a bilaterally symmetric trapezoid).

They do what they are supposed to do
These gaiters are good replacements for a nearly identical pair I that I have finally misplaced and had used for over 50 years. I am very satisfied with these.
