Takes me back
I lived in Brazil for 3.5 years in my 20s, and this is like a piece of my heart. If you speak Portuguese, you will know the word "saudades." It's the word they use when you miss something, but it's deeper than that...almost like a sense of nostalgia or longing attached to it. "The love that remains" as some people describe it. This is what that feels like. The recipes are easy to follow, the ingredients aren't too exotic (although I did use potatoes instead of yuca for my bobo...same idea), and there's a lot of variety. My picture here is the bobo I made last night, but my favorite recipe is the stroganoff. I've searched far and wide for a stroganoff recipe in English that tastes right, and none of them have nailed it until I made this one. I do prefer chicken instead of beef, so I just use chicken and keep everything else the same. Highly recommend!

Loved it
I am Brazilian and I loved this book, got it as a gift but almost kept it to myself because the recipes are great and the fact that is all in English makes easier to people get to know our culture.

Authentic and creative alternatives
I bought this book because wanted to recreate some of the recipes I missed from my country. Brazil is a huge country and it's hard to put everything in a book, I feel like she did a good job compiling some of it in the book. I like how she suggests alternatives when she can and where to find some of the ingredients. I learned how to make dishes I could only have when I went to restaurants or bakeries in Brazil. My favorite so far is the vegetarian moqueca, I know that for some Brazilians this may not sound very authentic because it's vegetarian, but it was very delicious and a good alternative for me that missed the dish to share with my partner that does not eat fish.

Interesting
The flavors seem authentic and am looking forward to trying quite a few of the recipes. For the most part the ingredients are easy to acquire and the instructions are easy to follow.

If you want to try Brazilian cooking, this book is for you!
My husband is from Brazil and has loved all the recipes I've cooked from Olivia's site (oliviascuisine.com) so I decided to order the book. I was very pleasantly surprised to see that NONE of the recipes in the book are on her site (I thought maybe I would be paying for recipes I could access for free online). We are really excited to try even more Brazilian recipes and because Olivia is an amazing Brazilian chef, I know they'll be amazing!

Finally, a Brazilian Cookbook not focused solely on seafood.
One of the issues I've been having when it comes to looking for Brazilian cookbooks is that a lot of time the core meals that would otherwise be used for dinners mostly focused on seafood. And if you're like me and are kind of "eh" with seafood and have a partner from Brazil whose family doesn't eat a lot of seafood dishes, this book is like a saving grace of sorts. One of the major highlights of this book for me is that it includes more recipes for chicken, pork, and beef. It has made things much easier for us so that I can keep a small piece of home for them in the US.
