The harness I bought for my cat (the vet estimates she's about 7 months old, but she's a little small for her age, only about 6 pounds) came with a basic 6 foot leash. Unfortunately, she and I frequently have very different opinions about which way to go, and I wanted to give MYSELF more "room to roam" without literally dragging her across the garage floor if I needed to, for instance, step back inside to safely dispose of a piece of broken glass I'd found. She's also faster than me, and I worried that if I didn't have the ability to occasionally give her a little extra length, she'd try to jump off the porch and hurt herself because I hadn't had a chance to catch up yet, and the leash wasn't long enough to reach the ground. I've only taken her outside a couple times with this leash, but so far, it's been great! The tension seems good, and isn't too strong for her. The leash itself is definitely a thinner material than the other leash and harness are made out of, so I can see why some people have had issues with it breaking. But I assume that the lack of thickness is also what allows this leash to be so small and lightweight. I guess we'll just have to see how it goes.If you're getting this for a cat, I do recommend letting them sniff it for a minute before you attach it to their harness. I didn't think to take this step, and for some reason, it nearly scared my cat out her wits as I tried to attach it. But after she had a chance to check it out for herself, everything was fine.I will admit that I have made a couple of modifications to the use of this leash that I imagine would not be "manufacturer approved". For starters, one aspect I liked with the old basic leash was being able to wrap the "handle" around my wrist and between my fingers, so I still had the use of my hand, and it wasn't so easy for me to drop it. So when this leash came with an extra collar to be used in addition to a dog's normal collar, I decided I needed it more than my cat did, so with the help of a carabiner to connect the two ends, I threaded it through this leash's handle as an extra "collar" for my wrist. Also, I decided I'd like to give my cat just a little bit of tension-free roaming, so I actually clipped the old leash to her harness, and then clipped this leash to the "handle" of the old leash. As I said, we'll see how it goes, but so far, so good.

Looks to be good quality, got the tape style (felt it would be studier, but actually the cord may have been better, since this is a small dog). Dog is 18lb terrier mix and she doesn't like hearing the whirring sound nor feeling the pull as she walks away, extending the leash. Whirring sound is both ways, extending and contracting. Wish I would have also gotten the longer leash...got 16ft and that really isn't enough when I allow her to extend for bathroom purposes. I was afraid of tangling when contracting, but really shouldn't have worried about that part (cord maybe better too)--the extra 5+ feet would have been nice. Fits in hand ok, light for me (maybe too light/small for my big husband)

I've had dogs all my life and have always had retractable leashes that I use multiple times a day. I have probably had 5 of them over my lifetime so far (in my 60's). This is by far the best one. The ribbon has good structure but is still flexible (others I've had stretched out and became "flabby", so caused the mechanism to clog up). The retractable mechanism is superior to other brands, and the grip is comfortable to hold. The locking mechanism is easy to use and doesn't get stuck like some others can. It is also lightweight, which is important to me because I've had some that are too heavy. LOVE this leash - well engineered! Definitely recommend!

I bought my 2nd Flexi as a replacement for some no named. The newest once seems to be even more quality than my first. I've had my first one for about 9 years. So they last. The new one is very smooth with operation and my wife loves it. Anyway, buy the dang thing, you won't regret it.

I got this to replace my 10 year old Flexi leash that was wearing out. I was pleased to see the “tape” version available, as the cord version always made me a bit nervous. With this version I don’t have to worry about injuries to legs etc.I’ve had it for about a week and I’m quite happy with it. I had initially worried that the tape would get twisted and cause problems, but that hasn’t been an issue. I also appreciate the slightly larger handle than the old version. It gives me a more secure grip.

The leash definitely takes time getting used to operate. I had a standard 5’ leash. I purchased this product having a 16’ extendable tether. Your eyes go wide when you dog takes off running, gaining speed and you know the leash is coming to the end with a rather jolting effect to the dog; I have a puppy. But, you develop you own operating style over tine to make this a worthwhile purchase.

Wasn't sure I would like it...I've used an old Flexi for years and years. The flat line does seem to retract easily and without knots. So far, I am a fan!

The Flexi New Classic Retractable Tape Dog Leashes are the best there is in the market for my 3 dogs. I highly recommend this specific brand and model.

We love this leash. My little man loves to run around but I can still leash train him on lock!

Bought this in December and it's already snapped. Not as sturdy as the Kong ones I previously bought. I'll go back to buying that brand. Very disappointing.

2 months in and this leash is tearing... total garbage.
