Q: How do you actually use it? I can't understand how it works and would appreciate a clear explanation for "dummies" like me.

It depends on the disability of the person who is using it . My Mother was 89yrs and had difficulty transferring form chair to chair . I used it like a bridge so she could wriggle along it or sit down half way . I wanted it to help her transfer from wheel chair to the car but that didn’t work as my car is too high and she would be going up hill . As my Mother used to go backwards I used it for safety device to prevent her going down onto the floor .
