Quick and simple way to clean the receiver lug area
Sure, there are lots of tools and techniques out there for cleaning the carbon buildup from the lug area on an AR-15 receiver, but this tool makes it a 15 second job to remove the majority of the carbon buildup without the use of solvents, soaking, or swabbing. This tool is going to "live" in my range bag, along with my CRT-15 bolt/carrier scraper. The only "improvement" I could suggest would be for someone to come up with a single, all-in-one (bolt/carrier/lug) scraper tool as easy to use as this one is.

Works great, but could be improved
Tool works great, but corner of handle is sharp and digs in your hand as you turn it. Overall, works amazing at cleaning

Works great on heavily fired ARs but customer service appears to be non existent which brings any warranty into question.
This lug scraper isn't something needed for casual shooting of an M16/AR15. However, after thousands of rounds are fired, enough carbon can build up on the underside of the lugs to cause problems. I used it on an A2 that had probably fired 10,000 rounds. I thought had been thoroughly cleaned but when I used the lug scraper I found it removed an appreciable amount of carbon from the lugs. It's easy to use and does exactly what it's designed to do. I also like the ability to screw in a chamber brush to the end of the tool.I would have given it 5 stars except for a couple things. The directions that come with it say,“Rotate the Talon handle slowly, while inserting, until the yellow witness mark disappears into the upper receiver.”My Talon Lug Scraper doesn’t have a yellow witness mark. This isn’t a big deal because I found pictures of the Talon tool that did have the yellow witness mark which was pretty much where I thought it would be.However, after a week of emails and calling Tactical Tolerance/CAT Outdoors about this witness mark, there has been no response, showing a lack of customer support. While I can’t find any mention of a warranty or replacement of a broken tool on their web site or documents that come with the tools, other sources have this to say:The Arms Guide review (http://thearmsguide.com/4991/talon-tool-ar-15m-16-lug-scraper-full-review/) say,“The tool head on the Talon Tool is made from 400 series stainless steel. This means that the “talons” are brittle enough to break under pressure instead of bending. Tactical Tolerance designed them this way so the Talon Tool will not get stuck in the chamber from pieces being bent,” and, “The Talon Tool is available for close to $40.00 (+shipping) from Tactical Tolerance and is guaranteed for life.Rifle Gear: (http://www.riflegear.com/p-1346-talon-lug-scraper.aspx) says,"High Sierra Group, Inc. P.O. Box 1012 Douglas, Wyoming 82633 offers a 100% MONEY BACK GUARANTEE. If you don’t like the tool for any reason, send it back for a FULL REFUND. If you break it, send it back for a NEW TOOL."I’d be hesitant to return a tool without being able to contact them first about a refund or replacement. Since they don’t appear to be interested in responding to the needs of their customers, any warranty that might exist could be worthless.I have and like both the lug scraper and the C.A.T. M-4 but, considering their lack of response, it’s doubtful I would buy any more of their present or future products. I would have much rather have given this tool 5 stars but the lack of response by Tactical Tolerance/CAT Outdoors brings any warranty that might exist into question.I’ll have to wait until I break the lug scraper's heard to find out if it gets replaced for free.

Cleans out the lug recesses nicely
Have you ever had a problem cleaning the lug recess area of your AR or M4? I did, and wish I had this when I was in the Army. This cuts a lot of time off removing carbon from the lug cutouts and recesses. It even has a threaded portion on the end for a 5.56 chamber brush. Combine this with the M4 CAT tool, and a pain in the ass job just got a whole lot easier and faster.

Yellow witness marks not on the scraper I received
Just to be sure where the yellow witness marks are supposed to be per the instructions, I have enclosed a picture I found. It's just a yellow stripe in the last groove shown on the left. Even with out the yellow stripe, it isn't rocket science on how to use the scraper.

very good purchase. I have included a link if you ...
This is advertised as just the Lug Scraper however i was shipped the field kit that come with both the Lug Scraper and M4 C.A.T. very good purchase.I have included a link if you have not used these tools. [...]The Lug Tool works great and although i would rather use an Otis B.O.N.E. tool the C.A.T. tool is good to have as a backup.

Grip too short and made out of cheap plastic....
I wouldn't mind keeping this one as a spare and get a better one. Once you unfold the tool and seated in the lug recess you have about an inch or so of the grip sticking out the upper and you might be able to get 2-3 fingers around it. This makes it tough to push down on the tool to have good contact with the chamber face, also the grip has a cut out to fold the tool in and at the bottom of the grip the cut out created 2 pointy edges one on each side at the bottom of the grip. They will poke you when you try to turn the tool. I got this tool because I saw it was threaded at the tip so you can screw on a bore brush kinda convenience. When I held this tool in my hand it was very light, I knew then this isn't a quality tool.....but it will do the job.
