Best Diapers! Great for baby, great for the planet!
My daughter is turning a year old this week and I have been using exclusively gDiapers since birth... and I LOVE THEM! Having already diapered two children with "regular" disposable diapers, I find these to be the perfect balance of convenience and cost. It is true that there are multiple pieces to the "system" and it's costly up front. That being said, I invested in cloth inserts (of a cheap brand, not the ones they sell) that I use part of the time to reduce waste and cut costs. The way gDiapers fit is good, but it could be better. The part where you close the diaper with velcro is stiff and thick due to the weight of the fabric and the fact that it's folded and sewn together making a thick layer can press into the top of your child's leg on the sides of the leg hole (as it has with my chunky baby). Over time caused what I believe to be slight bruising in a tiny spot above each leg. To prevent this, I adjust the diaper a couple times as I put it on, being sure to pull it up high on the baby as to keep a gap at the top of the leg hole between the diaper and the leg. In addition to that adjustment, I use my fingers to flatten out the insert inside the diaper after putting it on, by actually putting my fingers inside the diaper between the legs (palms facing away from the baby) and uncurling the insert. Basically, as you put on the diaper, there is no method of doing it that doesn't cause the insert to become bunched up, possibly in a way that would result in the baby being able to pee to one side of the absorbent part and leaking. After getting the diaper all the way on, making the insert flatten out prevents all leaks, and also gives opportunity to make sure the waterproof liner part is placed nice and wide on the baby. All of this quick work at getting the diaper on correctly is key to an awesome experience. I know I mentioned that the fit could be better, but I am ONLY referring to the top of the leg hole. Everything else actually works BETTER than a disposable when it's on just right, which is really much easier than I make it sound. The gPants are really cute, and the leg holes make for a nice fit around the crotch. Best I've ever seen in a cloth/hybrid diaper. They wash easily and don't seem to stain somehow. I have bleached every color I have (blue, green, yellow, pink, newborn) and none of them lost their color. I did fade some of them a teeny tiny bit when I went through an over-bleaching phase before I found out I shouldn't do that. I admit that the white newborn ones I did manage to stain--I don't know if it's because they are white or that newborn excrement is really orange/weird, but they did stain. I think the most important part of what makes these wonderful is that my daughter doesn't get rashes! The first two children I diapered got frequent rashes, and went through periods of having almost non-stop rashes come up. I don't have that problem with these diapers. According to the gDiaper website, it's because they allow air to flow through them. I don't know if that's why. I just know it's what happened for me. The waterproof liner is waterproof, but at the same time a soaked -cloth- insert can allow moisture to build up everywhere inside the diaper, even to the point of moistening the gPant (cloth outer part) enough to seem completely wet. I've noticed that it's just moist and not leakage, although it's really similar feeling and almost as bad. If you choose to use cloth inserts, you must know that you have to change all wet diapers as soon as possible. Leaving them wet will eventually cause the moisture problem (but no rash!). I recommend these to everyone!! Just buy the gPants on sale, and the rest whenever. If cost is an issue, do cloth inserts some of the time and like me, you'll end up SAVING MONEY by the end of the year.

Physician and Mom Approved!!!
After much research, we finally went with the G diapers and are SO glad we did. Our daughter has used them since she fit into a small (we used disposable newborn diapers before this) and we have had a great experience. She is now 7 months and in the mediums. I am so happy with them that I just bought Larges. There are three parts to each diaper: a colored shell, a snap-in liner, and then an insert that is either disposable or cotton. For each size, we have needed 6 shells and one extra pack of liners and do laundry about 2-3 times per week. We use disposable inserts and go through about 1.5 packs per week (6-7 inserts per day). She goes through about 1-2 shells per day. Shells almost always stay clean with pee-only diapers and sometimes get dirty with poop. Pros and cons are below: Pros: - Cheaper than regular diapers, especially if you buy on Amazon and are planning to have more children - Excellent quality, will definitely last through another child. After 3 months of use, all of our our diapers look as good as new. - We have had only three blowouts in seven months with these diapers. Disposables just can't even begin to compare to those numbers. - Great for the environment! No plastic waste that will sit in a landfill for centuries to come! - ADORABLE. - Our daughter has NEVER had diaper rash! As a Family Doc, I think this is my favorite part about these diapers. There are no chemicals and the disposable inserts are very absorbent. They really keep her dry! - Comfortable! Our daughter has never had chaffing or rubbing, as long a we make sure the velcro is correctly aligned. She is in the 50%ile, so perhaps other sized babies might have a different experience. Cons: - Although they are very cute, they are bulky. We buy her pants one size up in so that they fit easily with these diapers. - You have to commit to doing about one extra load of laundry per week. We keep soiled items in her hamper in a separate plastic bag and then just toss everything in together in the wash. You could always buy more shells to cut down on laundry. - Overnight can be a little tricky. With about 8 hours of wear sometimes the inserts become over saturated with urine and start to fall apart. We have avoided this by changing her once during the night. Some people say they use two inserts at night, which we have not tried. I would absolutely buy these again and am SO happy we went with these! Physician and mom approved!!

No comfort for baby. Have to change every 2-3 changes. Would not buy again.
So there are pros and con's with this product.... Pro's -Love the PUL insert, I can stuff our prefold diapers in them but do wish it could have more depth -If your baby pees most of the time, you can get many uses out of this diaper before washing it..amazing! -Very Lightweight, I would call it a 'pop up' diaper. When you start stuffing it, then it takes shape and love the look of it. Con's -I dislike the waistband, It is very hard, and not comfortable for any baby -Velcro? I love snaps more, versus the velcro which gets less sticky over time, then you'll have to replace the diaper or velcro -The PUL insert is so that your baby can get multiple wears out of the diaper before having to wash it. But seeing as though are 1 year old poops everyday, you still have to replace it when poop happens because it gets on the cloth. - The buttons inside and the fabric that they are on are extremely hard and rough, not something I would want exposed to babies skin. These can create marks and rashes...not so great. Overall is it a product I have to have and want more of? No, I would not buy it again, because I believe they are not comfortable for our baby and you don't really get a lot of multiple uses out of them. Does it do a pretty good job at holding pee and poop? Yes, everything is contained inside weather in just the pouch or outside the diaper, as long as its not getting on the outside. Depending on these factors I've listed I hope this has helped you make a decision weather to buy them or not. Every parent is different, every child is different, so find what works best for you.

Best cloth/sustainable diaper system
Best cloth/sustainable diaper system we've tried. Hands down. We've used them since our daughter was new. They aren't bulky. Velcro is long-lasting (I've never had to replace it, although I've heard some ppl have.) and strong. Easy to launder. Comfortable for baby. Practical to use (Change only the liner, not the whole diaper. We have NEVER had a single blowout!!) The only drawback I've found isn't with g's... it's that most ready to wear baby pants are not designed for cloth-diaper wearing babies. It is inevitable that cloth is a little more bulky than a disposable diaper. But, I've found that g's are one of the trimmest-looking cloth systems. None of that RugRats look... ;)

Best Cloth Diapers I've Used
I have used cloth diapers with both my children. I used a different brand with my older son, who is now long, long out of diapers. I have been using gdiapers on my 16 month old since birth. They were not available when my first son was born or I would have used them with him also - these are the best cloth diapers out there. Pros: The outer layer is cloth and so looks and feels great. Very soft and comfortable. The snap-in waterproof shell is great. I usually only ever have to wash the cloth soakers or the waterproof shell. Just occasionally with a huge blowout I need to wash the cover as well. Never had a blowout go beyond the g-pant. The snap-in water-proof liners are breathable and so NO diaper rash. I usually just hang the liners to air and they are ready for the next changing, dry in minutes. Only wash them when poopy. I use only the cloth soakers as they are great. Once my son grew into the larger size I was able to use the small size soakers as a "booster" for naps etc. I did use the flushables at the beginning occasionally, but moved quickly to only cloth as they were so easy. The flushable ones came as part of a starter pack. If you use them they are absorbent, they are easy to flush (follow the instructions, the "swish" part is important), and they do not sit in a landfill for a scary amount of years. I just don't use them because I don't need them. No leaks. No rough, crinkly plastic pants on the outside. VERY easy to use. I have 6 g-pants, 12 snap-in liners and 12 cloth soakers. I am never without diapers. I either throw in the wash with the rest of the wash I'm doing that day (NO softeners either in the washing machine or dryer or the soakers won't be absorbent anymore,) or if there's a nasty poopy one I just wash the ones that are ready. Dries quickly because the g-pant and soaker are separate. Cons: I wish there were more specials and deals offered on price. I shop around and have been able to get all my diapers for less than is usually advertised - for example, just got buy one get one free g-pant at diapers.com. However, because I am buying much less than you would usually need I have spent less diapering this son than the last. Only dropping one star because I would like to see more specials and deals for the thrifty shopper! :) Bottom Line: best cloth diapers I have used because of the snap-in liner system. Less to wash, less needed to buy. Works, no leaks, no diaper rash, comfortable, easy to use, and - yes - very cute.

Awesome diapers!
I really really like these diapers! I've been using pocket diapers but wanted to try a different kind since I am still building my stash. The fabric itself is very soft and the color is super vibrant. It does take some extra time to put the diapers together since there is technical 3 parts the cover the pouch that snaps into the cover and the insert that goes into the pouch but if you don't mind adding that little bit of extra time when putting your diapers together and away after washing then they are great! The only issue I have had with them so far is the pouch the part that snaps into the cover and holds the insert/soaker pad isn't as breathable as advertised but I do have a heavy wetter so getting diaper rash isnt anything new. Other then that these diapers are great! And they are thinner then most cloth diapers unless of course you add 2 soaked pads

Waste of money. Did not Work. Not good for big babies.
This did not work for my big baby. I am very new to cloth diapering having been forced to use cloth diapers for my son who is 13 months and suffered an allergic reaction to Pampers Swaddlers. I used Pampers Swaddlers and loved it for over a year with no incident until he all of a sudden developed this very bad irritation just around where the pamper touched his skin. With some experimentation, I found that using a cloth diaper was the way to go. I was pretty overwhelmed with all of the information out there on cloth diapers and my co-worker suggested gdiapers. I read the reviews and went to the website and thought this was an easy option. I found it to be overpriced, but if it would do the trick for my son, I would pay whatever price. Once I received the gdiaper in Large which gdiapers advertise fits a baby from 22lbs to 36lbs, I found it to be very small. I have a big baby who ranks between 65-70% for weight, but 97% for height and it appears that gdiapers did not consider that bigger babies. The large pants simply did not fit and I did not have much confidence that it would not leak. I was right. It leaked when he urinated one time. And to my biggest disappointment, the disposable inserts gave him the same rash that Pampers gave him. I packed the entire shipment up and returned for a refund. Gdiapers does not fit a big baby, they leak and the disposable inserts are not good for babies with very sensitive skin. Thankfully, I found a cloth diaper company in NYC that is AMAZING and after the first night's use, my baby's diaper did not leak. I would not recommend gidaper.

Well made, practical and comfortable
We started using those as the only truly compostable option for diapers. Initially we were skeptical about comfort and practical aspects of gDiapers. However our kids, 2 girls - 6 mo old and 3 yr old, love them! You are going to need several reusable covers and a set of pouches. At the moment we have 2 covers per kid, sizes M and L, and 8 pouches total. The same pouch size can be used with both M and L covers. Also the same size of disposable inserts can be used with M and L covers which is really convenient. So if you want to do your share in saving the planet for all our kids, then I highly recommend trying out gDiapers.
