Perfect to maximize capability of 1/2 ton with tow pkg
If you're towing a trailer which is more than 50% of the tow vehicle weight, you need this. For me it was the right tool for the job, towing a 7,000 lb tandem axle cargo trailer with my yukon xl k1500. I foolishly towed it 300 miles with a standard hitch and it was a harrowing experience to say the least. Had this hitch on the return trip and barely knew it was back there. No squat, no sway, and the steering axle clearly felt more planted. With a load distributing hitch my reciever is rated for 12,000 lbs. This one is good for 8,000 which is just a little more than what my truck is rated for, so it's perfect. I don't want the hitch to be the weak link in the towing equation, literally. For installation, I used a 1/2" ratchet with 14, 19 and 28mm sockets and a 10" crescent to hold the bolts. You'll need a very big wrench to install a 2 5/16 ball with a 1.25" shank. I finally had an excuse to break out my 15" crescent and giant Channellocks for that one.Being the thirty-something guy I am, I still haven't acquired the wisdom and patience that makes you stop and read the directions, lay everything out and think it through ftom beginning to end before starting. I just ripped open the box and started bolting things together. Much to my dismay I discovered the drawbar had a 1.25" hole and my 2 5/16 ball had a 1" shank. Then came the most arduous part of the process, driving around town for an hour looking gor a 1.25" shank hitch ball. Had I taken my time and inventoried the parts, I would have discovered beforehand that the kit provides a bushing which will allow you to use a 1" shank in the 1.25" hole. Doh!!Installation was pretty straightforward. The hitch is highly adjustable, both with angle and height. I ended up installing mine with the hitch shank's vertical length down (as pictured), since my cargo trailer is low to the ground and the Yukon is not. With an RV, which tend to have the frame a bit higher off the ground, you'll probably install it with the longer vertical length up, which is how the instructions show. It didn't come with a sway control, but has provisions for one. I didn't need one.Hooking up and disconnecting this hitch only takes a minute longer than a standard hitch. But it is HEAVY! If you're slight of stature you may have some difficulty lugging this around.I would have given 5 stars if it were made in USA. I don't usually bolt Chinese parts to my vehicles, especially critical components, but there's no American choice here that I know of. The welds and powdercoat look decent enough. Some other products which have made my truck into a darn-good tow vehicle and I recommend you check out include: Tekonsha P3 brake controllers and Air-Lift 1000 supplemental airbags for coil springs.

Bought "Used-Very Good" Hitch - Looked New, Performed Flawlessly
**UPDATE (02/13/21): with the bolt package received (see update below) I was able to build the hitch (have a partner, and get the right tools) and attach to a 2017 Explorer 4WD to tow a 2021 Wildwood FSX 178BHSK travel trailer (3800#). Hooking up the unit was a trial-and-error process, having no experience with hitches or towing. An hour later I had the hitch on, chains fastened, and a fairly level tow vehicle and trailer (next time Iโll add one more link to level it even more). My haul was 150miles to my RV storage spot and the drive was very stable and the trailer didnโt pull or surge a bit during acceleration or braking. Iโd recommend this device to anyone towing, especially with an SUV.**UPDATE (02/08/21): one email to Camco and 15min later I have the missing bolt package on the way, shipped 2nd Day air! GREAT CUSTOMER SUPPORT! Bumped to 3 stars for the great outcome (will likely be adding more), and will add more to my review once assembled and used.**Bought a "Used-Very Good" hitch, which was noted to include all parts and original packaging (though packaging may be damaged), to save 40-50% of the new cost, thinking it's going to get banged up anyway so who cares? Product arrived - packaging somewhat damaged but not bad. Upon inspection of parts I found them to be in excellent condition - very little wear visible, if any, leading me to believe it was either a return or previous owner didn't use it. Unfortunately the BOLT PACKAGE was missing, which contains TEN bolts, nuts, washers, and pins to assemble the hitch. Without these parts the kit is completely useless and cannot be used at all. Will update the review is the missing parts are sent (requested already), otherwise 1's all I can do for an inoperable product.

major towing upgrade
while towing 14ft enclosed tandem axle cargo trailer carrying honda utv and camping equipment found some concerns. I observed some swaying in passing semi's and windy conditions that felt like the tail wagging the dog, also the 'bad shock absorber' feeling after passing over bumps and dips. My chevy silverado which has trailer towing package was handling the tow except for these exceptions making for long days on trips. Since installing this hitch all previous mentioned difficulties were eliminated(bad shock effect) or reduced to negligible(tail wagging the dog). This hitch does what its suppose to.

Great product
I bought this hitch because it didn't come with a shank (which the description clearly states for those of you posting reviews about that) because I needed a longer shank than what usually comes with these hitches. And of course it didn't come with a ball either (also clearly stated) because everybody has different ball size needs.I'm using this on my regular cab 95 tacoma w/ added leafs and a 16' tandem utility trailer for hauling firewood. It works better than I expected. With brakes on both axles and this hitch I feel pretty comfortable with the amount of weight I'm pulling with my little truck. I was sure to read lots of articles and watch a lot of videos about how to adjust the hitch to my truck and trailer, and can tell you it is a bit of a process. It's definitely do-able though once you have the big tools needed, and it took me about an hour of adjusting and testing to get it right. I had to use a 4' pipe to get the needed torques.Edit:I'm now using this with a 92 F250. I've definitely used it to its max capacity (1000lb tongue weight), and it works really well. It drastically improves steering with a heavy load, and makes obstacles like speed bumps much less annoying. If you can't afford a gooseneck/fifth wheel, this hitch is the next best thing. I'll restate that it's very important to set it up right (making sure the springbars are parallel to the trailer tongue). Try to understand how it works, and you'll have an easier time setting it up. You also have to jack up the tongue around 4 inches above the ride height, lock the springs in place, and then sit the trailer weight down onto the spring bars.

Excellent weight distribution hitch at unbeatable price.
I've only had the opportunity to use this set up once as it was purchased late in the year.Without this system my 25' travel trailer was very unsettled behind the truck, with this and a friction sway control bar the trailer stays nicely behind the truck, cross wind and passing tractor trailers are now manageable.Assembly and setup are not too hard if you have the proper tools. Trickiest part for me was finding a parking lot with a level surface to use for proper set up.Quality seems good, looks identical to other systems at 2X the price.
