The eyes are capable of having a 1.047 inch diameter round inserted into them.When you assemble, pay attention to the illustration in the product description that shows the center of the clamp at the interface between the end of the rope and the continuous rope.

I love that these are not little flimsy clamps. I got these to hang a stainless braided rope in my greenhouse to hang my shade cloth in the summer. There are just enough to do both sides and they don't seem to be too wimpy to do the job. Makes it easy to get things done. Should last a long time. No rough edges on mine. If it matters they are made in China.
