Last Days [DVD]

What I liked about this film was that it's a brilliant representation of what it's like to feel really depressed. The long, dragging of the days. The grinding boredom. The sense of nothing happening. The emptiness. People coming and going. When they speak they seem muffled and distant. It's pointless and it goes nowhere. It's boring and it just goes on and on and on. It's painful and by the end you just want it to be over. That's how long term depression feels. That's the point.

I was put off watching this film for a very long time due to comments like 'nothing happens', 'pointless movie', 'arty rubbish' etc but as the years passed (and the price of the DVD dropped) i gave in a bought it and can say that it now has a proud place in my DVD collection.First off with regards to pace this film is in no hurry to get anywhere fast!!! I can imagine alot of people falling asleep while watching this. However, it is superbly directed and very well acted by all. The photography is great and really conveys a sense of isolation.Without giving too much away it tells the story of a rock star who seems to have very little to do all day and therefore feels rather isolated and alone. This is where some viewer comments like 'nothing happens' seem rather silly as I believe it is the point the movie is trying to make and its affect on Blake (played brilliantly by Michael Pitt).If you decide to watch this my advice would be to relax, allow the film to move at its own pace (no cheating by fast forwarding) and allow yourself to connect with the character of the film who inspired my sympathy throughout. Hope you enjoy.

Excrutiatingly slow and very, very dull - I LOVE it.Pitt is perfect, the pace of the film is perfect, sparse, sensitive film-making - and it's not supposed to be an action movie (is it?)The feel is above all else TIRED. And I think that's the point, the winding down of something that was once dynamic, all energy drained.It's not going to end happily.

Michael Pitt did a brilliant job playing Blake (Kurt). But the other characters are pointless and ruin the story of kurts last days.

Depressing as hell. I thought it was more about Kurt Cobain but it wasn't.

I got this because I new it was based on kurt cobain but it was to artsy for my tast

I went to watch this film at the cinema twice when it was released. I love it. But I'm a French native speaker and i prefer watching dvds with the subtitles. And this one doesnt have any. Not that they speak much, but i was disappointed.
