Finding a Family for Tommy

My 2 year old adopted child loves this book. I am not sure how much they understand yet but it's a great book to introduce the complex subject.

After purchasing several adoption books for 'toddlers' that were far too wordy and complicated. This book- Finding a family for Tommy' was just perfect. Its bold block colours and simple words and fold out flaps keep young toddles interested. The story talks about finding Tommy a family- the fold out flaps reveal unsuitable families of pigs, or pandas, or lions. The end picture reveals groups of suitable families, which is very inclusive. So this book is perfect for any adoptive family. We put our photo in the back of the book, to help the foster carer talk about the children's new family. Seeing how effective this book has been in explaining to young children about finding them a family, has been wonderful. Couldn't recommend buying this book more highly. Well done for everyone involved in it, you have done us a great service :)

I bought this amongst many other similar books to help my 2 yr old foster child understand about her new adoptive family. She loved this book, we read it several times a day and I truly believe it has contributed to a very successful transition to adoption for her due to it helping her to understand about needing to have a family. It was by far her favourite book out of all the ones I bought. I will definitely buy it again. It is well written with clear colourful pictures, a simple story line with repetition and a portrayal of different families.

As nice as this book is, simple and an easy read. It's not great quality. Its thin and spiral bound. Not what you would expect from a 7.99 book! The flaps are thin. So this book should only be read with adult supervision.

Love this but would prefer it weren’t in the ring binder as it makes it look cheap

Nice book to support children going through adoption or finding a new family.

Fantastic book which has been used many times to assist young children in understanding a stage of the adoption process without putting emphasis on the word "adoption" or "fostering" so has a dual purpose.

Got this for my 4 year old foster child who was heading for adoptionThis was far too basic and didn’t really build any interest or tackle anything

We adopted our daughter through the foster care system. This book is wonderful in helping to open the discussion into how some families are created and how families are all different and all wonderful.
