Can I connect a dimmer to this tree lights are too bright for my living room

I would like to use this for a display at craft shows. How small can you pack it and how much does it weigh?

the lights on the 4 foot tree turn off for a second and then turn right back on. is that by design? or is there an issue with the electrical?
