Not a dollar store coloring book!
This is not a dollar store coloring book. Quality paper, bits of history and bio of the artist. Outstanding detail. If you are a fan of the artist, this will delight. Well worth the price.

Fun times!
I really love this coloring book. The hard cover makes it super easy to hold and all the tiny details in the images are fun to shade a color. It really helps take your mind off of things and it's honestly akin to meditation. Very much worth it for Gorey or fans of the macabre.4

25 designs from the artwork of Edward Gorey with heavy use of black – printed on one side of the page
The media could not be loaded. This is a well made hardback book of 25 pen and ink designs by artist Edward Gorey. The designs range from stand-alone designs to those which were used as illustrations in various books. At the front of the book, there is a full listing of the included designs (1 through 25). For those who are familiar with Mr. Gorey's work, humorous and sometimes slightly macabre tone is no surprise. He illustrated for many famous authors with his distinctive crosshatched drawings which rely heavily on the use of black.I was thrilled to find this coloring book. I have been enjoying using “The Ghastlies” quilting fabric line which is also based on Mr. Gorey's work and have been wishing for a coloring book as well. Because of his crosshatch style, the designs in this book are quite different from those one usually finds in a coloring book.Because of the heavy use of black in these designs, I will be treating them, for the most part, as if they were done in grayscale. My preferred method of doing grayscale is to use alcohol-based markers as a basecoat and then to add shading and details with colored pencils. However, I will be careful in using colored pencils as these sometimes give an off-color when placed on top of black. This is what I discovered while coloring in this book and using my coloring medium to test the pages:25 Designs based on the pen and ink, crosshatched artwork of Edward GoreyPrinted on one side of the pagePaper is heavyweight, white, slightly smooth, and non-perforatedSewn binding with a thin glossy hard back coverThe book opens flat easily. There is enough room to remove a page if you wish to do so.Alcohol-based markers bleed through this paper quite readilyWater-based markers can spot through. The exception was my Tombow brush ends did not spot through even with dark and bright colors.Gel pens and India ink pens did not bleed through but some gel pens took much longer to dry than usual.Colored pencils worked well with this paper. I tested both oil and wax based in several brands. I was able to get light pigment as well as heavy (with multiple layers) and to layer colors and blend well using a pencil style blending stick. My hard lead pencils were good color as well with crisp lines and did not dent through the page.

Nearly perfect Edward Gorey coloring book~
Oooh, an Edward Gorey art coloring book, by Pomegranate!I had hoped to give a 5 star rating for this lovely quality coloring book, only, many of the images chosen for the book aren't quite what I'd expected. I've been an Edward Gorey fan since I was 7 (when I accidentally found his books in the humor section of the local library, I was immediately hooked! My parents were not so amused, oh well, guess I was a born Gothic). The book itself is super duper, Pomegranate quality; glossy, hardback, lay-flat binding, high quality paper, 25 coloring pages. Lots of the chosen images are similar to the cover image, but quite a few of them are of his more "boring", less sinister illustrations. I'd hoped for more "PBS Mystery" style, less children's book illustrations. Also, some of the images are cropped closeups, not showing the full image. Honestly though, I still would have purchased it, just to add to my Gorey collection!

Adore!
I adore Edward Gorey, and this coloring book is almost too nice to actually color. It is more like a picture book, it has a hardcover, which I wasn't expecting, and quality paper is used. However, I did buy it to color in, so I will enjoy doing that and the hardcover will help preserve my work. I am very pleased with my purchase.

My childhood renewed
My mom read me the books as a kid and I wanted a mindful activity for decompressing after work and love this for coloring.

Gorey's illustrations are awesome.
The more you look, the more you see in Edward Gorey's illustrations. This has to be one my most unique coloring books and it always starts conversations at my coloring groups. I wish it had a few more of his illustrations in it because there are so many to choose from; however, I know I am going to enjoy coloring the ones that are included.

Gorey Images Just Begging For Color
My only wish is that there were more pages to color. Not sure which medium will work best, but I've always liked all things Gorey 😀. Is on my shortlist to color next.

For a Gorey collector only.
This is a book for a Gorey fan who has to have everything not someone looking for Gorey’s best, or just looking for a colouring book. The pages are a type of paper that pencil crayons and crayons won’t stick to. Like colouring on something waxy. The fine line work and intricate detail of the drawings make it hard to do much colouring in; it’s more like retracing the lines with colour. These are random images not a story.
