Whats it mean no hard drive? Wont record without it?

If you don't need to use recording and playback function, you can still watch real time video when DVR without hard drive.
If you need recording and playback function, then you should have an internal hard drive in the DVR to set up recording.
This system doesn't come with hard drive. If you need recording, we suggest you choose a system that comes with built in hard drive. If you'd like to buy a hard drive by yourself, please kindly note that our DVR is compatible with internal 3.5 inch hard drives which are specifically for surveillance security systems. And hard drives like Western Digital (purple) is suggested.

Is the cords on the camera durable to be smashed in the door? I don’t have a outside plug and I would like to hook my camera up outside..

I think you'll need to drill a small hole to get the cord through the door in this case.Or you may consider our battery camera which doesn't need to plug to power supply.
