John Knox and the British Reformations
E**.
Great Read
Fascinating collection of essays that are well researched and written without the usual anti-knoxian polemic that pervaders the subject. In 3 Parts (Early years; Political & Theological Thought; Sottish Reformation). Lots of footnotes - a must read- and, crucially, an Index.Topics include Frankfurt troubles, Scholastic echoes; Goodman and Knox; knox and fasting; Knox and discipline. Naturally there is a chapter on Knox and Mary.13 chapters in all by various writers. James Kirk's excellent chapter (1) Knox and the Historians sets the tone for the whole book. A breath of fresh (academic) airHighly recommended
