Yes, you could just pop the cork back in and not worry about little invaders -- but putting a stopper in either is hard (and then people have trouble pulling it out) or it's not in well enough and just falls out. Don't set yourself up to have little buggies helping themselves to your vino -- these little caps are super handy. They allow your wine to breathe while keeping gnats and fruits flies at bay. The lids fit on nicely, but pop on/off with ease (this is not something to transport your bottle with -- it has hole in the top, why would you think that anyway?).Don't drink wine? Bonus -- these fit on beer bottles as well! But my beer doesn't need to aerate you say? True, but why not have a tool that is a multitasker? Keep some on hand and Mom with her bottle of Chardonnay and Dad with his bottle of Yuengling will both be happy.

Living in Hawaii, there's gnats/fruit flies that are impossible to completely get rid of. Even with all the doors/windows sealed shut in a high rise you will inevitably get little flies. They always go for the wine! This little gadget solves that problem. Goes on easily and doesn't affect pouring wine. Doesn't allow bugs to get into the bottle and die. Highly recommend for people in warmer/tropical climates

These tops are great for drinking wine outside and not letting bugs get into the bottle. I like these a lot and use them frequently!

Got these for the wife as she enjoys her vino and while they fit fine and do what they are supposed to do. No leaks or anything, just remember to remove it before you pour your glass and replace it when done.
