Those very thin round small batteries, but this is a very unreliable product.

Q: Where is the "day display" it says it has in the description?

If the back of the case is labeled, “Smith & Wesson, Water Resistant, Japan Movt” It does Not display the Day of the Week.

Q: How big is the clip? Will this fit on a 2 1/4" duty belt?

No, I don't think so. I hooked mine on to belt loop. Mine lasted a couple of years and then the controls stopped working and the light jammed on. I liked it and liked the concept. S&W has a new model out. I've already bought one.
