I like the fact that this book made me see the importance of the learning aspect of lean. I will focus on this in the coming months and hope to improve our performance.

A book you can give your leadership
One tool you can use to push from below for change. One of the few books that is aimed solidly at what the leaders need to do. Lots of wise advice on the failure modes of lean initiatives.

The Book for Leaders
Another Lean classic from a master: Dr. Michael Ballé. This collection of short essays give insightful nuggets of wisdom to think about lean leadership at a deeper level. Anytime Michael Ballé releases a new book, it’s a value-added contribution to the practice of Lean Thinking. He is one of the few Lean authors and thought leaders today whose experience is tied to the origional Japanese senseis at Toyota. This book has helped me to think bigger about what what I am capable of as a leader by leveraging lean and reframing what I care about in a way that empowers me to do it better. I’ve already used up one highlighter underlining points that I want to apply to my current business!I encourage you to pour yourself a cup of coffee and snuggle up with this book in a comfy chair. It’s the next best thing to having a coffee chat with Dr. Ballé in real life to hear his 20+ years of insights, experience, and wisdom about the transformational power of Lean.

Learn how to improve your leadership based on Lean
I have read several of Michael's books and without doubt, this one is the best. Not only does he explain Lean but he does so in such a way that you appreciate his knowledge and belief in the concepts of lean, but also that he is not evangelizing lean into a silver bullet. Further since this book is a series of papers, as a reader you can explore lean from the view of many practitioners and other authors. Finally Michael has studied leadership and the impact of various practices upon leadership for quite some time. His use of lean in a simple morel, Lead with Respect, is a fun and easy way for non-lean individuals to begin to practice and learn lean, not just the tools but the people aspects.

Lean should be spelled Learn
This is not a tool and techniques book. This is a compilation of papers mixed with the thoughts of the best leadership guide I know on how to change the way you think and the way you think about lean.I have been a director in IT for many years and now coach IT leaders on how to improve their performance. This book focuses on the use lean (or DevOps) to become a coach to your team but at every level of leadership. In fact it pushes you think about how and why are you creating metrics, visual boards, common practices, standard practices or the use of tools. This book should become part of an MBA programme. This book would serve as the basis of thinking about lean as a learning process and not as a quick fix tool.

Several insisghts from different business fields
The book shares several (practical) insights from different business fields. Emphasizes the core lean concept of improving learning within the organizations. In spite of all the tools lean can provide, the constant learning (at the wokplace) remains the most important thing.
