Two-jar method: minimal effort, maximal results!
When first looking for a simple way to do cold brew at home, I ended up researching a bunch of methods & other types of equipment & decided this was the most economical system to start with. After using this equipment for about a year, I can honestly say I wouldn't do it any other way! It couldn't be easier, including when it comes to clean-up, as everything can be put in the dishwasher. But even if you wash by hand, it would be very easy to do, especially since the filter is so well-made (no sharp edges, etc) & the jars have a wide mouth. I've worked out a few things along the way that might be helpful."Recipe": To maximize your yield & the exposure of grounds to water to extract the most flavor, I've found the 2-jar method is by far the easiest way to go. The lid design actually makes it even easier! I use the ratio of one ounce coarse-ground coffee to one cup of water, which is what Bon Appétit recommends. They suggest diluting this concentrate 1:1 with water before drinking, but YMMV. I usually pour about 8 oz. cold brew into a tall glass, add a couple packets of sweetener & about 2 tsp. of sugar-free Torani or DaVinci syrups, then top off the glass with unsweetened almond milk (maybe 6 oz.?), so it ends up being slightly less than the suggested 1:1 dilution.Brewing: The way to maximize the yield is to add the grinds to the jar FIRST, then the water, then insert the mesh filter, which will easily slip through the slurry. Make sure it's all the way in, then screw on the lid. Give it a good shake to thoroughly wet the grounds & you're in business! Just give it an occasional shake during the brew time and it turns out great.Capacity: I've done up to 7 oz. of coffee to (almost) 7 cups of water before, but it's a tight squeeze, so to make sure the water can easily circulate when shaking the jar, I stick to 6 oz. to 6 cups. The grounds absorb some of the water, so this usually yields about 5 cups (40 oz.) of concentrate, give or take.Straining: this is where the genius design of the lid really shines! I use an identical jar to strain the coffee into, and all you have to do is pour out as much as you can into the new jar while trying to keep the grounds toward the bottom as long as possible (which prevents them from slowing down the flow). When the flow slows to a trickle, just turn the brew jar upside down over the new jar, make sure the spout stopper is inside the mouth of the new jar, & the lid allows you to balance the brew jar on top of the new one & go on with your life as the last little bit drips out! Once the dripping is done, just switch the lid to the new jar & stick it in the fridge.Sludge: There is a bit of sludge that settles out, but it stays in the bottom as long as you don't shake the jar before pouring. Or, if you really want to shake it, let it sit a couple of minutes before pouring & it settles right out again. (Same thing if any happens to get into your glass.) If the very idea of sludge bothers you, you can use a paper filter to remove all traces, it's just an extra step that I don't find necessary.Enjoy!

Love this coffee maker
I think this is the only 5 star review I've ever given. I wasn't a coffee drinker until this year at 51 years old when l I learned about cold light roast with a touch of maple, I don't like hot beverages. With this jar you put some coarse grounds in and let it sit in the fridge for a day or two, maybe swirl it around once in a while. Pull out the reusable filter and your coffee is ready to go. Nice container to make the coffee, store it and pour it, so very easy and convenient. You do get some fine grounds in your coffee that make it past the filter but they settle to the bottom of the jar, with a gentle pour your good to go. I just pour the last inch of coffee down the drain to avoid the fine grounds. Very easy to clean and keep sanitary.

Durable and Functional, Tasty Coffee
This is an awesome cold brew maker. I’ve had it for almost 6 months now, and have enjoyed using it every time! (The “recipe” I use is at the bottom of my review).PROS:• Mason jars are known to be very durable, resistant to breakage, and can handle wide temperature fluctuations. This large two-quart jar is no different.• No leaking. The seal on the flip top of the cap, the seal around the mouth of the lid/jar, and the seal that the filter rests on are all working great. I’ve never had issues.• Easy to clean. The brewer has the same size mouth as the standard Ball wide mouth mason jar, so my small hand (and probably most others) fit easily inside to clean. The metal filter is very narrow so I soak in warm, soapy water and scrub with a bottle brush. The filter is a fine mesh, so it does take a while for a thorough clean, but I only clean it thoroughly after a few times of use.• Tastes great! I followed the instructions in the booklet it comes with. You’ll probably have to play around with the coffee to water ratios to find your perfect taste, but the good news is if it’s too strong you dilute with water, too weak and you add more grounds and let it “brew” longer.CONS:• If you make cold brew with the grounds in the filter and then you want to drink some a bit early, but want to let the grounds still stay in the filter to steep, you will have to take the filter out each time to pour your serving. The lid does not have an additional filter inside it to keep the grounds in the filter from going in your cup. The coffee in the filter is water logged so you’ll have to set it in a bowl so you don’t have coffee running everywhere. It’s just a bothersome process. A way around it would be to put the grounds directly in the jar with the water, add the filter empty, and then you wouldn’t have to take the filter out to pour the brew. This is not a deal breaker for me, but is only mildly annoying. It’s literally the ONLY con I could think of. You won’t be disappointed if you purchase this product. This product would be above and beyond awesome if:• If the cap had an extra filter (either permanent or removable) so the inner filter (full of grounds) wouldn’t need to be removed to pour the cold brew.• If the cap was a solid color. The jar would look more aesthetically pleasing on the counter or in the fridge if it was a solid black or solid gray. Obviously this doesn’t affect performance of the product, and many people may not care what it looks like, but clean aesthetics DO improve some people’s experiences of products.SWEETENED COLD BREW RECIPE (makes 2 quarts):• 2 cups hot water• 1/4 cup sugar• 1.5 cups ice cubes• Coffee grounds, coarsely ground, filled up to 1” from the top of the filter.• Cold tap water, filled until 1/2” from bottom of lid. *** Pour ice cubes in cold brew maker. Heat water, dissolve the sugar in the water. Pour sugar water over ice cubes to cool the water temp and melt the ice. Water will now be at room temp or a little colder. *** Add coffee grounds in filter, place in mason jar. Pour cold water through filter, swirling jar to mix with the sugar water, until at correct level. *** Leave on the counter or in fridge for around 12 hours. After it has brewed to your desired strength, store in fridge and use within 2 days for best taste. *** Pour sweetened cold brew over ice, add half an half (or other unsweetened creamer/milk) to the top and watch the pretty swirls😍 Enjoy!

The best thing ever!
We are so happy we purchased this. It saves us so much money making our own cold brew at home now and it is delicious! Easy to do and love how it's a glass brewer. The handle makes it even better. We liked it so much we bought an extra glass from the same company so we can have some made while some is brewing so we never run out. Great product, made well, highly recommended. We also sent one to our son and daughter in law who love cold coffee like we do.

You need this in your life if you are a cold brew lover!
I am absolutely thrilled with my Cold Brew Coffee Maker! This Mason Jar Pitcher has become an essential part of my morning routine. The design is not only charming with its classic Mason jar aesthetic but also highly functional. The durable glass construction ensures that my cold brew stays fresh and delicious for days. What's great is the simplicity of the brewing process - just add coffee grounds and water, let it steep overnight, and wake up to a smooth and flavorful cold brew coffee. The stainless steel filter is a game-changer, making cleanup a breeze and eliminating the need for disposable filters. Plus, the pitcher is easy to store in the fridge and pours without any drips or spills. It's convenient, efficient, and produces the perfect cup of cold brew every time. Highly recommend!

Add handle and spout
This product would be much easier to use with a handle and a spout.

Fantastic
Excellent item, I use this for cold brew and swap out the stainless steel lid for the lid with a handle (purchased separately) when it's ready to be served up.

Amazing!
I spent the best part of a day looking at different cold brew jugs for coffee and I eventually stumbled upon this one, which is perfect! Unfortunately Amazon didn't recommend it to me (maybe because it ships from the US?) but luckily I found an article online that mentioned it.Pretty much all of the other brewing jugs I saw were tall and narrow, meaning that you could accidentally tip it out of the fridge door if opened too quickly. Many also had glass handles and lots of the comments mentioned that the handle broke after only a few uses. The narrow shape would likely have been a pain to wash them by hand as my hands are quite big. Also none of the others seemed to have a consistent seal since the spouts were often open to the air, causing the fridge air to affect the taste.None of the above are issues with this one though. I've been using it for the past month now (made about 4 brews so far) and it's been great! It's wide-mouthed which makes it easy to clean, the glass is thick with no thin handle to break and there's a good silicone seal in both the filter and the lid to keep it fresh (also great for transporting it in the car!). The mesh is great too, very fine holes and sturdy. My only complaint would be that it's not that large, but it makes enough for 3-4 mugs, though perhaps if it was any larger it may not fit in the fridge door, or cause it to have the aforementioned problem of falling out of the fridge door if opened sharply, so maybe it's for the best that it's the size that it is.Highly recommend this over ALL of the other designs, especially as it costs the same as them (~£25 after postage/import taxes).
