Plantronics Calisto-Pro Bluetooth Headset with USB Bluetooth Adapter

i WORK AT A COMPUTER MOST OF THE TIME. dUE TO NEUROPATHY MOVING FROM MY FEET TO MY HANDS i AM HAVING MORE AND MORE TROUBLE TYPING. a DOCTOR FRIEND PROPOSED USING dRAGON SOFTWARE FOR VOICE TO TEXT TRANSLATION. tHE PROBLEM IS THE HEADSET IS AN OVER THE AIR UNCOMFORTABLE SET UP WITH A BOOM MICROPHONE COMING AROUND THAT THEY STRESS MUST BE WITHIN 1 INCH OF THE CORNER OF YOUR MOUTH. aND IT'S HARDWIRED.a PLATONIC'S bLUETOOTH HEADSET ALLOWS PORTABILITY AND ONCE YOU GET USED TO IT IS BASICALLY TOO GOOD. tHAT 1 INCH POSITIONING REQUIREMENT IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE WITH THIS SET UP. THE UNIT CAN BE LAYING ON MY DESK AND PICK UP CONVERSATION. i WAS INTERRUPTED BY A STAFF MEMBER IN THE PROCESS OF WRITING AN IMPORTANT EMAIL, FORGOT TO TURN THE MIC OFF, AND THE ENTIRE CONVERSATION WAS TYPED INTO THE EMAIL WITHOUT ME HAVING TO DO ANYTHING. tHAT'S THE TOO GOOD ASPECT.iN FACT i WILL BE BUYING ONE FOR MY DOCTOR FRIEND WHOSE USING THE SUPPLIED HEADSET 10 YEARS LATER DICTATING PATIENCE NOTES.mY ONLY CONCERNS ARE #1 THAT SINCE i WEAR IT FOR 10 HOURS AND USE IT INTERMITTENTLY i HAVE USED UP THE BATTERY A COUPLE OF TIMES, AND 2) IT DOES NOT WORK WELL WITH EXCEL. fOR EXAMPLE MY 10 KEYPAD BECOMES GARBAGE AND i USE IT ALL THE TIME AND eXCEL. tHERE IS A WORKAROUND THAT i FOUND BUT HAVE NOT IMPLEMENTED IT APPEARS VERY COMPLEX.i KNOW THAT IT WORKS WELL AND eXCEL (WITHOUT 10 KEY PAD), wORD, oUTLOOK, AND TO ME MOST IMPORTANTLY qUICKbOOKS pREMIER 2013

There is something defective about it.When it works it works marvelously. But then unpredictably a scratchy sound of interference will develop and the transmission will deteriorate to an unusable level. I have evaluated whether it was due to it needing a re-charge and that is not it. It will occur when fully charged as well. I have done two things that alleviate the problem for a while. I plug it back in to the charger, even if for a few seconds. And, my latest discovery -- I hit it. (I might slap it while it's on my ear with the unfortunate collateral problem that I have slapped myself as well; or taken it off and hit it against the desk.) And by golly, this works. So clearly there's something that is defective and I am looking to have that addressed by the manufacturer.

I am very pleased with the Calisto Bluetooth headset I recently purchased. Even after a rough start due to some of my own PC having misgivings, I have to say that it was well worth the price. I have been outside, away from the Bluetooth receiver by some 60 to 70 feet and I still was able to keep contact with the base. The signal had to go through the house's exterior walls as well as my garage before it lost contact, when I ducked behind the garage. It still had kept typing, as I was testing it to see how and where I could walk in my backyard, until I was completely behind my garage and had a lot of obstruction between myself and the Bluetooth receiver.I really cannot say a thing negative about the headset. Well worth the extra amount, to be free from wires and the headset is so light, that I had completely forgotten I had the device in my ear.I am simply blown away by the speed of the Calisto, typing away, once I figured out I needed to set a new PROFILE, with my Nuance Dragon program. Once I figured that out, the Calisto has been absolutely everything I had hoped for.May God Bless You!RGG

I've gone through four different headsets since starting to use Dragon Naturally Speaking instead of typing for all my computer-based work. The very best headset was a wired Plantronics - high level of sensitivity, reliable - and this new bluetooth headset is not as reliable but works well most of the time. The most annoying feature is its tendency to disconnect from the adapter at odd times. When this occurs you hear a voice saying "disconnected" and when the connection is reestablished saying "connected". It is totally unclear why it disconnects - the headset is never more than 5 feet away from the adapter. If there's a way to eliminate this, I'd like to know. If eliminated, the rating would be higher.

I use this both for Dragon Dictate on my MacIntosh Powerbook Pro at home and on the road. Works well in both situations. I also tried to use it with my Android phone but I have had some problems with that. I cannot be sure if it is the phone or the headset. That said, I bought it for the computer, not the phone so I am cool with it not working well on the phone. I have two or three other phone headsets anyway. If you use Dragon Dictate and want to be wireless, I can recommend this product.

The Plantronics Headset arrived on schedule and is exactly as advertised - and more. I use it primarily with voice recognition software - so microphone quality must be top notch. Once set up on my computer - which was simple - the microphone performance really delivered. The earpiece speaker is a little tiney - but that's not important for my intended use. I do use it as a phone headset sometimes also and in that app it does OK. Primarily, the VR app runs smoothly - much better than with the previous mic. A single charge runs all day (8-10 hours) and the ear comfort is just fine. I forget it's on sometimes. Construction quality is surgical and the - either ear design is very clever.ps this review was done using the VR system with the Plantronics Headset.
