HumbrolAC5601 28 ml Modelcote Mattcote Varnish

I've used this product for years and I've always been happy with it, it is dead flat and I prefer a solvent based product. However, the bottle I ordered recently is not matt, satin at best. I've shaken, stirred, and agitated in every way and none of it has helped. I've looked for help online and many forums report the same problem. I did order another bottle from another source hoping I just had a bad batch, the new bottle was ever so slightly less sheen but it was nowhere near the matt I know it can produce. Unfortunately, I left it too late to send this one back but the other is being returned. Great product if you get one with enough matting agent, it's luck of the draw though, poor quality control though. The figurine on the left of the image is Matt Cote when it's matt, the figurine on the right is the finish of the bottle I bought here.

I 3d print paint and sell model's so I was looking for a good quality matt enamel clearcoat and I wasn't disappointed.. When you paint models with acrylic paint but need to use enamel based weathering effects this clearcoat works great at protecting the acrylic paint from the enamel thinners and it works great at bringing out the details but completely matt..Great product definitely recommend to any one working with models or model making, only negative is it's very thick and cloudy looking out the bottle but it thins down great with a little cellulose thinner I had no trouble using in my airbrush..

I used this on a plastic ship model I had built, I did not have enough hence the need to purchase. Apply the varnish thinly to protect the model paintwork, it does what it say's it's matt

Why bother anything else, used for years

tried so many matt varnishes looking for true none shine on miniatures. This is easily the best but shake very well to achieve true matt
