For six quid I wasn't expecting much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This lantern was bought for use in my office/studio.Assembly isn't especially difficult, but it is fiddly. The diagram and text isn't particularly informative and I can see how some people might insert the expander and try and open the lantern to the full length of the expander (whereas you need to bend the expander). That would probably tear the paper, as it's stretching it too far, and I'd bet good money that some of the negative reviews that say it arrived torn are from people who did this.I played around for too long trying to attach the lantern to my existing light fitting and then trying to fit the bulb. Impossible - rather like a ship in a bottle! In the end I installed the lightbulb before pushing the whole fitting through the hole in the top of the lantern, allowing it to just hang there. As it happens, the bulb is pretty much bang in the middle of the lantern, although if I had bought a larger (or smaller) size, that wouldn't have been the case.The shade I was using before was completely open at the bottom, and while it was nice and bright, it caused harsh shadows - most noticeable if I was trying to take a photo of a document laying flat on the desk. Now, though, the light is very nicely diffused, to the extent that the shadows are barely noticeable. I also occasionally produce YouTube videos, and again this lantern diffuses nicely and gives me a decent quantity of light without any harshness.Overall, for £6 I recommend this lantern for anyone wanting to soften their lighting, or just for a 70s throwback vibe!

I got this to replace the old one my landlord had in my flat, now that I'm moving out and that old one did not fare too well in storage.It's the typical thin paper stuff, folds out easily. I'm not sure how you were supposed to attach it to the lamp, but managed in the end.I don't understand these flimsy lampshades, but it's the landlords' favourite so I'll buy a new one for a few pounds if that helps me get the thousands in deposit money back.

I have had a few of these lampshades. Usually they are quite good and easy to put up. But in this case, the paper is too flimsy and the piece of wire to fit it is not flexible, so that mine snapped off when I tried to fit it, and I had to improvise with something else. Can't really recommend if they're all the same.

This is an excellent little rice paper lamp shade. Very easy to install. The metal hooks that fastens on to the cord of our existing light fixture can be tweaked to fit if necessary. A great buy and far cheaper than places like IKEA and John Lewis. The size is great for a stairwell for example, where the larger standard sizes don't fit.

Sadly as soon as I went to fit this the S wire that holds the electric light cable snapped off due to extremely poor quality of soldering as I was careful whilst fitting this. It sometimes pays to pay a little more for better quality, this being one of those times.

Bought as a temporary measure, so wasn’t expecting the best, but it’s really good quality, nice strong paper and properly made metal fittings. Very pleased with my bargain!

However one of the metal rods was welded in wrong place, luckily its easy to bend in hand and I managed to twist a workaround. Still holds after a year
