4.5 beautifully heartbreaking stars!!Wow!! Mia Sheridan gets me in the feels every single time. This book I devoured. Read it straight through. So glad my book club chose this book for January!The first half of this book was a beautiful story of two kids just trying to make it out. So many hurdles. Sad thing was you were just waiting on borrowed time for the next shoe to drop. And that it did.Kyland that son of a gun. I love him so much it’s blinding. I wanted to hate him but I never could. He broke my heart so many times. It broke for him. Tenleigh (what an original and perfect name) was determined. Yet, I don’t think she ever saw the big picture. I was disappointed in her at one point, this point was huge and she was young so I get it. She let her fear not allow her to hear and see the truth. But I am proud that she became what she did. I kept thinking Marlo was going to end up on a bad path but I loved her path as well.Even without the author overall describing this town, the trailers, the convenience store, the mountains, the coal mines, the roads, and etc. you could see it. This book played out in my head like a movie I would pay to go see.One thing I will say is I haven’t read a MIA Sheridan book that doesn’t end happy. Yes a ton of bumps and lessons on the way to their HEA but we always get one. I think the only thing that held me back from giving this 5 stars is that it was pretty predictable. With that said the story itself was unique in how this played out. I loved this little hillbilly town. I loved how people were given a second chance to live. This book tears you down and then lifts you back up.This is a beautiful love story. But there are some triggers so please be aware.

Fantastic book

4.5 stars. This book took me on a HUGE emotional rollercoaster. I read this book in one day. You can feel the characters' PAIN but also LOVE seeping from the pages of this book. I couldn't put this book down. I was on the edge of my seat hoping for a HEA (there is one)."We all have an internal diologue that either keeps us trapped or sets us free."

Kyland is a heartfelt and emotional love story that will captivate readers from start to finish. The story follows Kyland and Tenleigh, two young adults living in poverty in rural Kentucky, who are both determined to escape their difficult circumstances and make a better life for themselves.The chemistry between Tenleigh and Kyland is electric, and their growing attraction is portrayed in a way that is both realistic and heartwarming. The author does an excellent job of balancing the romance with the more serious themes of poverty, family, and sacrifice. One of the most compelling aspects of this novel is its portrayal of the harsh realities of rural life in America. The author does not shy away from depicting the struggles that many people face in small towns, from financial insecurity to lack of opportunity. However, despite the bleakness of their circumstances, Tenleigh and Kyland are incredibly resilient and determined to make a better life for themselves.

An emotional rollercoaster, but in the best way! Beautifully told romance with themes of selfless love and heart-wrenching sacrifice. Stunning writing as always, and that cover is to die for! You'll laugh, you'll cry, and this story will be carved into your soul. Read it!
