I tracked the lamp temp (on low) for 12 hours every hour and it was always around 95 degrees compared to a brooder plate i got which was all over the place. I was able to touch the lamp shade without burning too. I feel this is better and safer in the beginning given the accuracy but ofc any heat source comes with some risk. I suggest adding marbles to the water dish to prevent chicks falling in since its larger but I'm very happy with this product.

Disliked how small everything is, had to go buy actual heatlamp, and feaders from farm store for half the price.

This isn't that well made, but relatively inexpensive for what it is. My main issue is the heat lamp. After I turn it off, I'm constantly having to grab the bulb and screw it back into the right.The perch is mostly useless with quail, and I'd argue, a bit too big for chicks.The feeder for crumbles (etc.) is relatively cheap but easy to assemble. The waterer is too large in my opinion for chicks unless one adds stones to prevent drowning.Easy to assemble: 5 StarsEasy to clean: 4 StarsSturdiness: 1 Star

Basic set up, you'll have to trim plastic from the lip of the water container. The feeder trays are flimsy and cheap, and the bulb is for reptiles/ amphibians. Not worth $40. If I was not in a time crunch I would have sent it back.

Small and light weight. What you would expect for a brood.
