These are exactly as described. Like all things today the screws are worthless but the rod is nicely made, very smooth finish. Would buy again if needed.

Sorry to say I returned these because they wouldn't work with my fence.

This 12” cane bolt gate drop rod is well constructed and meets my needs to lock my wooden fence gate as well as using it to keep the gate open. I drove a ¾ inch pvc pipe into the ground under the rod in the gate’s closed position and another in the ground where I typically open the gate. I thought the 12 inch length would be too short but it works well once the two guides where positioned at the correct distance to allow the rod to drop into the ground as well as to be raised to clear the ground. I used one more thicker and longer screw on each guide than what came with the package to ensure the guides stayed during high winds.

When you take the required distance of the mounts into consideration it only drops a few inches. I had to use just the lower so I could drop it further.

I ordered this latch for an unconventional use: to secure a cat door (there's a story behind this that involves a clever raccoon, but I will leave that for another time). The latch has been installed indoors, so the weatherguard protection is not essential, but still, nice to have a latch that is sturdy enough to withstand an attack from a resourceful raccoon.Installation was intuitive and straightforward, with all required hardware included. Within about 20 minutes, we had it up and running. Although the door is in an unobtrusive corner of the sunroom, I still appreciate the fact that the latch is reasonably attractive.Unless the raccoon returns with a blow torch, I expect this hardware will do the job, and keep us all safe from midnight visitors.

Just built a new fence gate and installed the gate rod for added security. It was an easy install and made of heavy duty metal. Although a bit smaller than I thought I needed, it works perfectly. Nice quality product at a reasonable price.

This gate bolt is simple and effective. It installs easily, with the provided hardware. I like that the mounting brackets are small, which allows for a variety of mounting options.

Exactly what I needed to hold the doors on my container garage. It's much heavier duty then it appears, so be confident there. Going to buy another one for the other door. A++++
