Great machine – shame about the plug!
I hired one of these for a particular job and was so impressed with it that I went and bought one. The only reason I haven't given it 5 stars is that when I got it to site and went to use it, I found it had a 2 pin plug not a 3. No where on the product description mentioned this and it was only that I had another tool which I could take the adapter off of that I was able to use it at all. Bloody annoyed is a polite way of describing my feelings at the time! Why aren't they shipped with one as matter of course? It would only cost pennies to add them as a standard item. That issue aside – like all the other Makita kit I have, it's a great machine. Their tools just do exactly what they're designed to do!

Beast of a machine, but surprisingly handleable.
For a hammer that runs on electric, this is a powerful tool. Breaks up tough concrete like a charm. It's on the heavy side for an electric power tool but for the power you get compared to smaller drills it isn't too bad. Unlike lower rated models in the range, the weight of the tool does half of the work so you don't have to waste energy pushing down on the machine. Also, the vibration isn't too bad, you definitely feel it and will get bruises like with any other jackhammer but you can use it for a day straight and not end up with numb hands. I worked with this unit alongside a colleague using an 1100w model and the difference was night and day, I would pick this over it every time for anything other than finer finishing touches.
