Satisfying Ending
First impression. The book opens with Corrick and Lochlan continuing to fuss and peck at each other, but Lochlan proved to be a wise and determined human that surprised everyone! Tessa lost some of her agency early in this book, and I didn’t feel she had as much influence as she could have, but she was grieving for most of the journey through this one.Harristan and Quint worked hard to earn the trust of the people and ultimately got it, but at a huge cost. And what the counsels did to the guards and their families was brutal! I am so glad it was all off page, but the impacts of it were clear. What kept me reading (or didn’t).Corrick’s character arc was amazing! His transformation and willingness to finally, FINALLY, allow his vulnerable side to show was wonderful to watch. And the whole event with his brother and Quint truly broke me. I cried, then cried again. Like UGLY cried.Tessa regained some of her strength later, and was able to influence some important decisions. I appreciated the way she grew into her final role. It was satisfying to see her put Rian in his place. The side friendships and relationships in this final book really made the world come alive. Erik, Thorin, Adam, and Karri all supported the main cast, but also had strong stories of their own. After taste.Did I mention the crying? The end of the series is completely satisfying, and perfect, but the journey to the happy ending was really hard. I adored the relationship between Harristan and Corrick, and even though they were separated through the entire book, their love for each other was crazy strong. Hence, the crying. *Sigh*Overall impression.I want more from this world, which says a lot. The story is complete as it is, but the characters felt so relatable that the author leaves you wanting to follow them the rest of the way to rebuilding the kingdom. And does Rian ever come back to visit? This is a series I will read again. It’s hard, and I spent much of the series frustrated by certain characters – I’m looking at you, Corrick! But the arcs and the growth of the characters makes it all worth it.I did not listen to much of the audio version this time, but what I did listen to was great. The same narrators, Chase Brown, Christopher Ragland, and Lexi McDougall returned for this one.

A wonderful ending
A great end to the series. I wasn't ready for the series to be done, but I truly don't know how much further it could have been taken. It brought me laughs and it brought me real tears. The ending warmed my heart so much. A true gem of a book.

Wonderful Ending to the Trilogy
In the final book of this trilogy, Tessa and Corrick find themselves separated, assuming the worst, all while being used as pawns to Rian and Oren. Meanwhile, King Harriston has had to go into hiding as his consuls spread the conspiracy theory that he has been poisoning the people of Kandala. Two kings fight to survive, all while the people desperately search for the cause of the illness that has wrecked their nations.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5🌶️ 0/5Tropes:Dual POVWarring KingdomsConspiracy TheoriesRequited LoveTriggers:GriefTending of infected woundsLoss of familyPandemic like d3athsMy Thoughts:I have never read a book by Brigid Kemmerer that I did not love. Her characters have amazing POVs and she has you rooting for even the most morally gray person to turn themselves around. The world building is unique and extremely easy to follow with just enough twists to keep the entire book exciting. I’m sad to leave the world off Tessa and Wes, but cannot wait for Brigid’s next series, because I know it will be absolutely wonderful.

Great Finish
Although I read a lot, very rarely do I read books in less than 24 hours. I absolutely devoured this book, finishing it start to finish in less than 24 hours. Once I finished Defend the Dawn I knew I wouldn’t be able to stop until I knew how everything ended. Just like the first two I absolutely loved this book, it had a lot of great plot points with plenty of twists that keep me reading. I fell in love with so many characters and each kingdom and their people. This series is easily my favorite read of the year so far. If you haven’t read it yet, you need to add it to your TBR immediately.

Great ending to a series!
For the record, I enjoyed this series way more than the Cursebreakers series. BK won me over again.Destroy The Day had twist after twist after twist. The twists had me ALL IN until the final twist. I just don’t know how I feel about it. Most likely an unpopular opinion but I could have done without it.

Loved the first two
This one was okay. I was a little bored until the end but I’m glad I read it and was a nice wrap up to the trilogy.

Literary Masterpiece
Brigid Kemmerer is an artist. Sometimes by the end of a series the books stop packing a punch but this book did not! I could feel the agony of Tessa and Corrick. The whole time I couldn’t put this book down! Also one quick note, this book did not match my copy of the first two books. I don’t know if other people have had that problem but just be warned.

YESSSS
This honestly took me a bit to get into at first because I was tired of reading from Corricks POV but once it started to consistently shift, then I was sucked back in just like the first 2 books. THE ENDING. I’m so happy. I cried when I I thought their story was gonna end the way it had looked but I’m so happy. <33

I loved it
I just finished it today, and I am in love with this book. It made me happy, nervous, angry, and it was very fun to read. It also made me cry. Corrick and Tessa have been my two favourite characters ever since I read Defy the Night and I genuinely had a good time reading all three books (I couldn’t put them down). This series will forever have a place in my heart.

Lively characters in a thrilling final installment with humor, emotion and action
This is the last installment in this stunning trilogy and definitive the best part for me. However, it took me quite some time to read. Reading was until lately only possible on the e-reader - so this print was only readable in the bath tub alone - so for weeks there was hardly any time and I decided to give print-reading during nursing another chance. Fortunately, it worked and I was able to read this book much faster. Which was really great, as the chapter endings were often really mean. The book is written from the perspectives of Tessa, Corrick and Harristan. Often some chapters are written from one point of view, before the other person is taking over. Most of the story this three characters are on their own and fighting their own battles. So it is always really enthralling to see what happens on each front.I really liked all main characters, but also the "sidekicks" were great. Harristan had Quinn, Thorin and Saeth on his side. Corrick was teamed up with Lochlan and Tessa had Rocco and later Olive with her. It was great how the author was able to bring all these different characters to life. Everyone was essential for the story and had their own story to tell. I loved this liveliness and variety.Furthermore all characters have such a nice development during the book. They get stronger and rethink the past. They surpass themselves. The cover is also really nice. I like the colors, which fit well to the hard battles of this part. Also the throne in the back with the ruins is fitting. As already mentioned, there are a lot of different threads, which in the end perfectly fit together. There is a lot of action and adventure - but there are also dialogues with humor (I almost laughed out loud sometimes) and emotion (I cried a few times as well). The ending is really emotional and thrilling and from my point of view all characters get their happy ending - which is really astonishing considering the amount of characters. My conclusion:Lively characters in a thrilling final installment with humor, emotion and action - 5 stars from me

A great ending to this series!
4.5 ⭐️I really loved this finale book! After finding Defend the Dawn a little disappointing - it just felt very middle book syndrome and the plot seemed to be designed just to get us from book 1 to book 3, plus the relationship drama got tiring fast - I wasn’t sure how this one was going to go but I loved it.From the end of book 2 we have a pretty good Idea of what to expect; our characters have been split into groups; Tessa and rocco stuck with Blakemore assuming Corrick dead, corrick and lochlan stuck dealing with Oren Crane and trying desperately to get back to Tessa and Harristan back at home dealing with a rebellion with only Quint and two guards with him.I think one of the main reasons I enjoyed this book so much was because I much preferred the dynamics we got between these new pairings. I honestly didn’t really care for Tessa and Corrick as a couple but I really loved the bromance bonding Lochlan and Corrick had and seeing Tessa remember how to stand on her own two feet again and see the world from multiple perspectives. And Harristan and Quint were just amazing, I was dying to see them in this book after the hints we get in defend the dawn and it did not disappoint. I was so here for their dynamic and also seeing Harristan go through everything he did. It was thrilling and emotional and I actually cried at one point. I also came to love his guards and loved how connected we got to all these characters that had taken a backseat in previous books. The rebellion plot itself was really great - lots of high stakes moments and I absolutely loved how it played out in the end though I wasn’t expecting it at all.I was happy with how the corrick/ locklan and Tessa/ rocco plotlines ended up though again I was not anticipating the ending. I really loved seeing Corrick grow out of his kill first mentality and learn to become a true leader gaining deserved respect and I liked that he had to do this away from Tessa.I also really appreciated that each pair got a chunk of chapters at a time so we didn’t get pulled back and forth from each plot too much!Though most of the plotlines were expected - it was pretty clear what was going to happen in most of the book in my opinion, and also held a lot of similarities to her other series - it didn’t take away from my enjoyment in the story. We, at last, get the character development I’ve been wanting and the ending was really lovely. Everyone gets an ending, all the side characters I became attached to were given the perfect ending and it gave me all the feels seeing the new friendships settle into place and the characters all truly find their place, not in a way I expected but in a way that worked with who they all became.A great ending to this series!
