A Purchase With No Regrets
I am really impressed with Jinhao. They provide exceptional value for the money you spend. The Jinhao 82 line fountain pens is no exception. The overall look of the pen, feel of the resin barrel in your hand, build quality—-all of these things cause you to be pleased with yourself for buying Jinhao 82’s.It is a very light pen which lends itself to long writing sessions without your arm tiring out. Do these pens resemble the Sailor Pro Gear Slim? Yes. RESEMBLE. These are NOT Sailor pens, nor do they pretend to be.The Band and Nib are etched, “Jinhao.“ My pens (Two. I didn’t ink up the third one yet) required a little bit of work on the nib to make them write a little wetter to suit my taste (there are several YouTube videos that show you how to easily do this). These simply are very nice pens.Virtually everything is increasing in price, pens included. I’ve seen the price of Jinhao pens increase since the first one I purchased quite a number of years ago. Nonetheless, their pens (including the Jinhao 82) are some of the best values among writing instruments. I am glad I made this purchase.

Inexpensive doesn’t mean cheap
I have many Chinese pens for which I have paid no more than $20 each, and most often only a few bucks for each. Most of them write very well. Only a few Chinese pens have disappointed, but not these. These Jinhao 82 write great and I usually have one or 2 inked up among my TWSBI’s, Lamy’s, Kaweco’s, and more. I enjoy exploring Chinese pen brands and models and it doesn’t cost much. That’s how I discovered Jinhao 80’s and 992’s, and various Wing Sung pen models such as 3008, 3009, and 3013. I don’t know how long they’ll last, but at around $3 each and bought three or four at a time I have enough good writing pens to last me years.

Fantastic Budget Fountain Pens
I adore these pens! If you're just getting into the hobby, or if you don't have a lot of money and like to have several pens inked at the same time, these pens are fantastic! They're not as smooth as a high-end pen, but they're not scratchy either. I've bought several Jinhao pens, and I have never had any issues with them. These pens post securely. The clip is a little tight, so I wouldn't really want to use it. You can remove it by unscrewing the top of the cap, but then it would be prone to roll.I have had some issues with the flow in the blue pen, but I'm 99% sure it's the ink's fault. I love the color of Sailor's Haha, but it has been too dry for my taste in my experience. The green pen handled Organic Studios Walden Pond Blue well enough considering how misbehaved that ink tends to be, and the purple pen handled Alexander Hamilton beautifully.

Works so well, at a fraction of the price
These pens have been criticized for being knockoffs. I love them.

Writes like hundred dollar pens!
I just received my trio of the Jinhao 82 pens. I thought I would save one for a gift to a friend, so I hurried and inked two of them. They are really nice writers. I ordered the extra fine nibs, and they both lay down a very thin line and there is a little variation on the down stroke if you add a small amount of pressure. There is just a tiny bit of feedback but very smooth indeed. I use the ARC notebooks from Staples; their paper is very friendly for fountain pens and the white shows off the inks well. I loaded both pens with Diamine Presidential blue and it flows well. I might mention that these pens are acrylic, so they are light in the hand and write better when posted. The cap unscrews for writing, but is a friction fit to post. For the price point, the pens look and write like much more expensive pens.

Fine tip nib
The nibs on these pens is finer than many. It creates a fine line of writing. They are a joy to use.

Great deal
Two out of three pens are very, very good on ink flow using expensive ink. Fit well in my small hand. They all arrived with converters. Excellent purchase.

Uneven quality.
The problem I have noticed with Jinhao fountain pens is that, while they are, for the most part, inexpensive compared to pens like Cross, Pilot, Monteverde, Waterman, Lamy, and others--it should also be noted that their quality and performance is inconsistent at best. For every pen that is well balanced and writes smoothly, a user can expect to encounter three or four more in the same model that are difficult to write with -- if they write at all.It should also be noted that there is absolutely no consistency in trying to write using ink cartridges instead of the converter. I had some Jinhao branded ink cartridges that would not fit in these pens.I would not recommend these pens. You never know if you are buying pens that work or just cheap trash that is worthless.Next time I replace pens -- I'm going back to a low-cost pen with proven quality and consistency like the Platinum Preppy.

Smooth writing
When I ordered those pens, I was a bit dubious about getting 3 pens with converter for such a low price but as they were to be used with shimmering ink, I took the plunge. Though there’s been a few leaks right after filling, they’re now settled and working well. I must say that they are a little thinner than I imagined as my only experience with a pen from that brand was with a very thick pen with a #8 nib.
