Great classic 'late' Bonnie Raitt - in cardboard!
Great replacement copy of my original. Her studio recordings in 1991 are still classic 'late' Bonnie. My only complaint is for the cardboard CD box it came in - both my original and this replacement copy. A regular CD crystal (plastic) carrier would be a vast improvement. I guess she was trying to be 'green'. Thankfully, her CD's went back to plastic - at least until her recent (2012) "Slipstream", the first recording on her own "Redwing" label, which was also in cardboard. I hope my pre-release ordered "Dig In Deep", which will be on her own Redwing label, doesn't come in cardboard, too! That's a heck of a note - my only complaint about "Luck of the Draw" is the packaging - otherwise, great Bonnie Raitt! Glad I found a good copy to replace my 'skidded' original (I bought a good 'used' copy via Amazon.). My old Yamaha DVD/CD player ruined several BR CD's by 'running away' with them in it - polishing didn't help. I bought an Onkyo C-7030 CD player (Amazon) and that stopped the destruction! The used replacement even still had the booklet, containing selection info, words, and pix, inside.

Absolute Best!
For those who have yet to purchase a Bonnie Raitt CD…”Luck Of The Draw” is the only one you’ll ever need!! I’m currently on my 3rd copy of this CD because the two previous copies were worn literally out! Yes, you can never go wrong with any Bonnie Raitt CD, but…”Luck Of the Draw” is the one for your heart! Enjoy!!

One of Her Greatest CDs Ever
I had purchased this particular CD several years ago and now suddenly remember just how great it is--Bonnie Raitt rocks on every song and she is simply an amazing musician. All of the songs are excellent, but I especially like "Good Man, Good Woman" which describes a rocky relationship between a man and a woman at its best, On "I Can't Make You Love Me", she sings with such deep sadness and when you are listening to it, you can really feel the pain of rejection. "The Luck of the Draw "is straight to the point, if you believe in law of attraction, which I certainly do. "Something to Talk About" is sassy, cute and really fun to listen to.If you collect great music like I do, then add this album to your music collection because it is well worth keeping.

Bonnie's Best...
My favorite Bonnie Raitt CD; very soulful and heartfelt. This is a replacement of the first one I bought when it was first released (it finally wore out). You can't mistake anyone else for Bonnie's unique voice. From gritty blues to sultry love songs, she'll draw you in and keep you awhile. I agree with some of the other reviews that note she isn't a bigger megastar because she has such a broad range of music that she can't be "classified" - thank heaven. I think most true artists fall into the unclassified category. Buy this CD and she will take you on a Slow Ride you'll enjoy for years to come. Another artist you might want to check out is Eva Cassidy; softer, smoother voice, but just as incredible an artist (see her on youtube).

One of my favorite recordings. This review is for the Rykodisc Gold ...
One of my favorite recordings. This review is for the Rykodisc Gold version. I've been hoping someone would do a Blu Ray Audio or SACD of this but this will do in the meantime. The difference between this and the standard redbook CD is not subtle. Much smoother and far more revealing. Luck of the Draw got some very lush production with many, many layers of instruments and voices and you will easily hear it all on this recording. On the song Tangled and Dark there's a passage where Bonnie Raitt kind of does a low growl. I had never heard that before. This is definite ear candy.

Bonnie Raitt, interpreter of the blues and beyond
This album came out in 1991, and was (I think) her first solo outing on the coat tails of her highly successful collaboration with John Lee Hooker on his "Healer" album. This collection finds her covering songs by Womack and Womack, John Hiatt, and Paul Brady, but the centre-piece of the album has to be the achingly beautiful "I Can't Make You Love Me" which has Bruce Hornsby's sublime piano playing accompaniment. The album runs the gamut of emotions, from out and out rockers, to ballads, and in between. The playing is always top drawer, the grooves are impeccable, and the emotional integrity invested into the songwriting is always apparent. All of these things combined make for a very satisfying collection of songs, and a great listening experience every time you drop laser onto shiny disc. Luck Of The DrawLuck Of The Draw
