Ennio Morricone: The Complete Dollars Trilogy

Iconic spaghetti western soundtracks. The 4 CD set contains the soundtracks to all three spaghetti westerns starting Clint Eastwood as The Man With No Name. It includes 'A Fistful Of Dollars', 'For A Few Dollars More' and the popular 'The Good, The Bad And The Ugly' that brought Eastwood into the spotlight. All are deeply atmospheric. The latter has 2 CD versions. The second closer to the film with the enchanting 'The Ecstacy of Gold'. Each soundtrack has its own catchy ballad that captures the very essence of the film in question, describing a time in American history when life was hard and often dangerous. The recordings are clear and of good quality. The music recordings are the soundtracks to the spaghetti westerns of the 1960s.

The Complete "The Dollars Trilogy" unlike the 2008 version. Very good mastering, well worth buying if you love Ennio Morricone's music. This is fantastic. It is not 100 percent exactly the same as the decades old soundtracks many of us, including me, have owned and enjoyed over the years on vinyl and cd. Usually I would steer clear of any cd containing re-recordings but not in this case. Here Morricone himself has re-recorded the music as faithfully as possible, the result of a serious, painstaking, major project. The booklet included tells you about it - and it is a very thick booklet. The music sounds 99.99 percent the same, such as makes no difference, in my opinion. And here you get everything that was written for the 3 films. The original soundtracks are a lot shorter than what you get here. Even If you have already bought all those original soundtracks you are not still wasting your money if you buy this box set. This isn't some cheap rip off box set. It is WELL WORTH BUYING.

Interesting ... Not what i expected but ok none the less a good cd for a film buff . Think i would have liked a best of type of cd this is very Ennio .

I Think This as been covered in Great Detail by other Amazon reviews all I can add This collection is Excellent value for your money. This Lavish 4 CD Set covers The entire Ennio Morricone scores for The famous Sergio Leone Dollars Trilogy. with nearly a staggering 30 Tracks for each Disc you really need To set your Time out To Take all These in The Good The Bad & The Ugly Takes up Two Disc's for This epic score. Lavishly packaged comes with an extensive booklet Detailing The scores for each Film. if you already own The actual Movies This set will make an excellent companion piece To Give you The ultimate collection. The Track listings are all in Italian But you just get swept away with The Lavish scores and really It's The way They should be. This is Five stars and a whole lot more.

All the previous reviewers rate this collection very high saying they are are top of the line and bla bla..the thing is once I saw the package I thought I was for a good time reminiscing the western movies...I can go in detail and make this another long review...but bottom line is they are not the originals and they just don't sound the same...beware they are the songs but don't expect to listen something as nice as what you finding you tube for example. If anyone knows of which CD or collection here on Amazon ar anywhere else for that mater you can get those 'real' Morricone songs please put a reply here.

Although it is conducted by the great man himself, it is not the soundtrack as heard on the film. This may be splitting hairs, but I prefer the original score - sorry, but these are the full versions which may not be available elsewhere.

This CD is the best for being true to the music of the film. Using the booklet provided you are able to easily read where the piece of music fits into the film. Reminding you of the clasic scenes and increasing you enjoyment by seeing the film in your minds eye. For example the music in the grave yard and the shoot out etc. Great fun.

This is probably the best and most complete versions of these classic movie scores that you are going to get. They are original in the sense that the Solisti e Orchestre del Cinema Italiano reconstructed the scores to present them here in their most complete form. There are plenty of bonus tracks included for each of the scores as well. There are a total of four CDs here. The first disc is "A Fistful of Dollars", the second disc is "For a Few Dollars More", and the final two discs are for "The Good, The Bad, & Ugly". Each disc presents the full version of the score and they also include bonus tracks of unreleased material and variations that Morricone created in later years for artist and other album releases. One of these is track 25 on disc one which is a pan flute version of "Titoli" for "Fist Full of Dollars". There is so much that I never knew even existed here! The CDs sound great and that is probably the strangest thing about this release is how clear everything sounds. I'm so use to watching these movies on a DVD player and it is definitely different hearing them come through a nice stereo system. I've enjoyed these movies since I was a kid and I've watched them many times. Having the ability to pop a CD in and enjoy the music on it's own is very nice. They sound great and if there are interpretive differences they are not noticeable by me. The whistles, chorus voices, cracking whips are painstakingly reproduced here to finally give soundtrack fans what we've been waiting for. I have the 2004 score for "The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly" that was released by MGM music and Capital Records. I thought that this was a great recording, running at 55 minutes it also seemed to be the most complete. Disc 3 and 4 in this most recent collection are dedicated to this one film. Disc 3 has 20 tracks and runs 46 minutes. Disc 4 has 19 tracks and runs for 52 minutes. There are several versions of the main title for the film so prepare yourself for that. Some are better than others. The real treat for me here is the scores for the first two films. Ones that I have been searching for and finally can enjoy here with this collection. Disc 1, "A Fistful of Dollars", has 27 tracks and runs for 1 hour. Disc 2, "For A Few Dollars More", contains 38 tracks and runs 1 hour and 14 minutes. There is a total of 3 hours and 50 minutes of music in this collection. The CDs come packaged a plastic case to hold all four discs and there is also a paper slip box for it the whole thing to slide into. There is a great 48 page CD insert that contains a wealth of information about the composer, history, track details, and material concerning all of the bonus tracks. They break down each track and tell you which part of the movie it came from and provide some "fun facts" about certain cues used in the movie. It's packaged really well and I certainly enjoyed reading through all of this and following along with the score. It would of been cool if they could of added more photos from the films or even some behind the scenes photos (if any exist) of the scoring process. We have here some great recordings of these classic film scores all together in one package. Having the score for "A Few Dollars More" is fantastic because that one is my favorite! Fans of the films and collectors should definitely have this one in there collections. I highly recommend this release!

Aunque el título de la colección contiene la palabra Trilogía, no se vayan a confundir, son dos discos solamente pero sí incluyen varios tracks de las películas que forman la trilogía del oeste "Dollars Trilogy". En cuanto a las canciones están "bien", solo que los arreglos no parecen los mejores y el volumen en muchos casos es un poco bajo. En cuanto al empaque, es de agradecer que se uso una caja doble de plástico para los CD's con una buena separación y no la ya muy usada (y a la larga mala) de cartón con sujetadores.
