a brilliant introduction to card (or tablet) weaving, well discripted step by step intro prodjects make this book highly acessable to the beginner. and a selection of patterns and back history make this book rewarding for the more exsperianced weaver. a great investment.

A really useful book as an introduction to the art. The directions are so good even I could follow them.

This book is really useful introduction to card weaving. I have only made the first sample band so far but will make more for sure. The process is laid out in a simple to follow step by step fashion. There are lovely photos throughout of card woven bands, and plenty of scope to develop your skills. I would recommend this book to anyone who is interested in taking up card weaving.

I came across a box with some strange square cards with holes in them and balls of cottons and wanted to know what to do with them. A bit of googling and a helpful Amazon brought this book by return of post. I now know!This book is very straightforward, step by step, with helpful line drawings, so that I have produced my first woven band and am designing my next.There is a fascinating section on the historical background - back to the iron age, with photographs.The later chapters with patterns, diagrams and coloured photos gives great ideas of how to get really creative.A very useful, well written and designed 'How to' book.

This covers the history of the art of card weaving and then moves on to give full instructions on how to begin weaving yourself. Fantastic book for anyone considering taking up the art of cardweaving

Saw this book online during my recent browsing of braids.Because I couldn't find a braid I liked, I looked into making my own,and WOW. This book has started me on a new obsession,and my loom (home-made from a cheap shoe rack) is never empty. I recommend this book to anyone seeking a a new constructive hobby.

Buen libro que explica las bases desde el principio y, precisamente por eso, desarrolla patrones al alcance de principiantes y algo más que principiantes.

Das Weben ist nicht nur ein sehr altes Handwerk, sondern auch eine Kunst für sich. Da ich immer wieder in Rezensionen lese "für Anfänger nicht geeignet", muss ich dem entschieden widersprechen. Was heißt hier ein Anfänger? Wenn jemand noch nie ein Knopf angenäht, Socken gestrickt oder sich überhaupt nie mit dem Thema Faser jeglicher Art beschäftigt hat, kann es natürlich nicht verstehen und auch nicht umsetzen. Ein Einstieg in die Welt des Handwerks geht immer langsam Schritt für Schritt, von den einfachen bis zum komplizierteren Themen. Für mich heißt Anfänger: schon vieles gemacht aber noch nie mit den Brettchen gewebt. Zu diese Kategorie der Anfänger gehöre ich auch. Das Buch hat mir sämtliche Lämpchen aufleuchten lassen und gleich am Anfang konnte ich kompliziertere Einzugsmuster weben. Alles sehr gut erklärt. Mit ein bisschen Talent und Phantasie geht alles. Das Buch kann ich jedem, der obere Voraussetzungen erfüllt und Englische Grundkenntnisse hat, wärmstens empfehlen. Diese Rezension gilt für dieses und das Buch von Lea Lauxen "Brettchenweben" gleichermaßen. Beide diese Bücher haben mir geholfen in die Welt des Brettchenwebens mit Leichtigkeit und viel Spaß einzusteigen.
