Brilliant again
Sorry this isn't going to be a long review as I have now just completed 4 books in a row and in just over a day each (I was away on holiday in my defence). All I will say is that I really love Ryk's style of writing, the plot is great and the characters are solid and believable. Loved it.

Another great edition to the series
I love this series. It has gotten better and better. My only gripe is that I wish the book was longer. This book is less about the crew of the Aurora and more about what happened to Earth while they were away. I can't wait for the next one. I highly recommend this series - it has improved with each book.

Yet another cracking read from Ryk
Can't wait for the next in the series, love the way the plots and characters are developing!I don't agree with those whose reviews have said Ryk is 'milking it', or 'the eighth book is going off the theme' . For me this is exactly how a science fiction story should evolve, I assume Ryk has mapped out the whole story and has an end in sight, but I don't care how long he takes to do it, the longer the better, and who minds, when you are paying less than two quid a book on Kindle?Maybe some of the doubters have never watched the series re-runs of all the Stargate spin offs on Sky/Fox and wondered if their scriptwriters are 'going off plot' or 'milking the style'Keep it up, Ryk

Outstanding Series
I brought this for my holidays having exhausted the supply of my usual Star Trek and Stargate novels. I have brought a couple on non mainstream sci fi books before and have been lucky in my choices. This series has surpassed any I have previously read. It is a good length and not over in a couple of hours like some cheaper books are.It is well written and not littered with spelling mistakes. The story itself is excellently written retaining interest and having a number of unexpected twists along the way non of which ventured into the realm of the ridiculous. Indeed at some points I had to resist a strong urge to peek ahead to find the outcome of a particular storyline.I only usually read when on holiday or working away from home, but on my return home I had to continue until I had read all episode so far published.

Great addition to the series
I think this is the first thing I've reviewed on here, and the reason is plain. This series just gets better and better. This book uses a really clever plot device (that has been an integral part of the first books) to change the game, and take you on a brand new ride, that is cleverly bookended by familiar faces. If you want to read it, make sure you read the first 7 episodes before you do! You won't be disappointed.

The story continues
Quite a lot going on with some original ideas and reasonable characterisation. Having read the first three episode I then read the rest of the available books (including this one) within a couple of weeks (shows I enjoyed them). I tend to compare SF books to the culture novels by Ian M Banks (as they are probably my favourites) and this series was not quite as good - but close.

Good sci-fi action adventure
Cool characters, gripping story and action adventure all the way! Way worth the read especially if you have audible too.

Great book in a great series. Highly recommended!
This is a good, very well written space opera, but this book doesn't stand alone as it's just one more chapter in a long saga. The strength of this work is in the well written characters, their interactions, the logical and realistic flow of the story, the relatively believable technology, and the relative lack of improbable escapes or situations. The novel is exciting, interesting, and throws in enough relatively unpredictable plot twists to keep the tension up, the reader on edge, and the pages flipping to find out how the story will play out. The book ends with a lot of plot options to be explored, and sets up the next book quite nicely. As noted above, this book doesn't stand alone, and someone new to this story needs to start at the beginning with "Aurora: CV-01". Reading from the beginning to this book will take awhile, but the good news is that you will have a lot of enjoyable reading ahead. Who knows, maybe episode #9 will come out by the time you finish this novel (we all can hope)! For me the Frontiers Saga, of which this book is a part, provides an imaginative, enjoyable, escape that is certainly better than most of the stuff on TV, often more satisfying than surfing the net, and better than a lot of half-baked movies on Netflix (Homeland, some DVD movies, and some streaming documentaries being marked exceptions). This series and this book also engage my analytical mind, and I find myself asking how the author does what he does, look at the sentence structure, the relationships between the characters, and their dialog, and fantasize about whether or not I could write something like this. In summary, I highly recommend this book and this series.

Keeps getting better!
A few weeks back, I randomly sampled a number of 'first books' on kindle. Aurora CV-01 was one of them. Seemed a bit rough, but I enjoyed it, so I booked up book two. And then book three. And so on and so forth, until episode 8 came out the day after I finished episode 7.The series has only got better and better as Ryk has kept writing, and this latest is amazing. Sharp action and tight tension, even though (thanks to its flashback nature) we know how it ends.Keep writing Mr. Brown! I'll keep reading.

Great work, highly recommendable
And again RB comes up with the unexpected and entertains so incredibly well! I suspected we would read about how he works on a plan to get into full fighting condition again.. and maybe some unforseen something... but soon you find yourself right in the middle of the Jung attack on Earth and devastating things happen all over. You learn about desperate measures taken by people, secrets needed to be kept by all cost, unexpected traitors and a lot of other things. The events are narated along several locations and people, giving you the expression of being along for the ride. The battles in space are so well written, you hope and despair with the protagonists. The events on Earth keep you on your toes. I could not part with the book for more time than needed for cooking my meals and walking the dog, otherwise I was glued to my kindle. Needless to say, it was read within one day. All hail to Ryk Brown!Thank you for releasing the next book within such short time and thank you for keeping the eBook price reasonable. Your Frontiers Saga books are some of the finest I have had the pleasure to read.

the characters keep developing and maturing
This book took a different approach and filled in much of the history and background. It has cleverly embellished the saga so you want to know more.
