Davina: Power of 3 [DVD]

Great for toning...
I bought this after shifting a good few pounds doing Tae-bo. I felt I'd reached a plateau and needed something to help me tone up. I'd never bought a celebrity DVD before, and was a little sceptical about doing so. However, I eventually decided to take the plunge and I haven't regretted it as this DVD certainly does the job. After doing the warm up, at least two of the main sections and the cool down twice a week for several weeks, I ended up with noticeably harder, leaner muscles. This whittled an extra inch off my waistline simply by defining my abs and sculpting my waist. My legs and especially my arms are also more toned. The workout is comprised of a 10-minute warm up, 15-minute sections each of arm, legs & bums and abdominal toning work and a 10-minute cool down. Interspersed throughout the 15-minute sections are 1-minute blasts of cardio, such as jumping jacks, jogging on the spot and punching. The toning exercises are basic and traditional (squats, crunches, curl-ups with weights etc.), but effective. They're carried out in 2 or 3 sets of eight which I found to be just the right amount, as my muscles have a tendency to bulk up too easily. This is a good buy, especially if you're looking to tone and strengthen your muscles without adding bulk, or if you want to get back into exercise. However, if you're already fit and like to work flat out, you probably won't find the cardio sufficient in this.

BUY IT!
Ive never brought a work out dvd before and was a bit dubious but it is probably the best things ive ever brought. It does work as my jeans are already loose on me and ive done it about 3 times since ive brought it. It is difficult to start off with but as you do it more often it gets a lot easier. During the work out they offer several levels so you can go at whatever pace you like and take breaks when you need to. The music isnt all that bad and you tend not to notice it because you are too busy concentrating. They do have some cheesy comments like "you are looking great!" but you work past that. I have noticed that my upper body strength has improved and in that section i tend to use 2 1 litre bottles of water which is a perfect starting weight but if not Jackie uses 500ml water bottles on the easier stage. I wont lie yes you do walk like John Wayne the next day but the second time I didnt walk like it anymore. I worked through the muscles pains by exercising them stretching and relaxing it really helps you are definitely "Giving your muscles a lesson to remember!" (as davina says). Buy it now and you`ll definitely lose weight, I am doing my work out every other day and going to the gym for an hour on the days i dont do it and have noticed a real change in my fitness! Buy it now, you wont regret it!

This ones a killer
I never ever thought that I would ever buy anything that would prompt me to write a review. I normally read reviews and think that, 9 times out of 10, people are paid to write them. However, I bought davina last week as i want to get fit for xmas. Me and my mate have been doing beverley callards and, although it is hilarious, it doesnt really do much for the weight loss!! I cant inform you that i have shed a stone in a week (!), but I can tell you that after doing the workout on monday, I cannot walk!! It really gets you sweating and the time flies by. You dont realise how much youve done until its over (and until the morning when youll do a fab john wayne impersonation!)I would definately recommend this dvd if you want a workout that will really get you sweating and, that you feel has made a difference, after just one workout!!The only bad thing i will say is that some of the music is crap. If they are davinas favourite tunes, im glad i dont socialise with her!

New to Davina DVds, excellent!
Having lost 5 stone in the last two years, I was looking for something that would take me to the next level of fitness without having to spend a fortune on personal trainers. The Elle MacPhearson DVD I used to find so tough was beginning to get easy and boring so I decided to try this one.It was the right decision as I've suddenly regained the enthusiasm I had for exercise a while back. I like the increased number of squats and the different ways these can be done. I love the fat burning bits in-between the toning bits, that's something I've never tried before.I've done this twice and I can already see my legs and arms toning up a lot. It will probably take a while for my bum and stomach to go, I've still got a 'stubborn' stone and a bit to lose and it seems most of it is concentrated there. I'm planning on buying the Davina SuperBody workout when this level gets too easy so I can start REALLY challenging that bum and those abs.All in all, I'd recommend it for someone at my level of fitness, it might be a bit too hard for a complete beginner of if you have not exercised for years. i will recommend it though, th good news is exercise does get better and easier the more you do it, like anything else.

I love this DVD!
I've used this DVD on and off since I bought it 5 years ago. This summer I got down establishing to a life-changing regime to lose 90lbs and keep it off for good. 16 weeks in, and doing this twice a week and swimming twice a week, I've lost 46lb so far! Like other reviewers, I've worked up to doing the whole DVD, and the module format is perfect for me. In fact, I'm so familiar with it now that I bought High Energy Five and Super Fit (box set) and Davina Fit, so that I could introduce some variety to my routine. I'm having trouble weaning myself off this, though. Super Fit doesn't suit me as well because it's based on a longer workout with steps and moves (which I'm rubbish at), but the module format of High Energy Five suits me, and I'm on to that now. I wanted to pass this on to my sister, but I'm sure I'll come back to it for familiarity occasionally, so I may just have to buy her a separate copy. Thanks Davina. Ignore the carpers who say the talking is annoying - when you've done this as often as I have, you know from the chat which move is next, which is useful when you're groaning on the abs section!
