Parenting a Child with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (Parenting Matters)

Brilliant! This is a clear and easy to read book. I carry this in my work bag all the time and I have recommended it to several foster carers. I refer to this book all the time in conversations with foster carers who are struggling to manage or understand behaviours. It’s small enough to carry in your bag but absolutely full of great information.

this book is fantastic. it explains developmental trauma in a really accessible way and provides guidance on how to manage a child with developmental trauma. it is clearly, succinctly and conherently written, very accessible for professionals, foster carers, adopters, etc. It is also very quicky to read - always a bonus in a busy life! a foster carer and an adopter also write a chaptr each at the end which is really helpful in terms of applying the theory bit

i've only just started reading the book. However, Book is easy reading, explains P.A.C.E and other therapeutic direct work, have great examples on how to dealt with difficult situations and it would be useful for foster carers to read if they have a child in placement who have emotional and/or behavioural difficultie. Its definitely a book to read and keep for reference.

As someone who has been a fostercarer for more than a decade and now about to adopt a 6year old child I can honestly say this book is worth its weight in gold. It makes complete sense to me and provides a really useful way of thinking about and actually living with and parenting a child with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

great book very helpfull

This book is an absolute must for any parent/carer/guardian etc that is experiencing difficulties with their children. I feel that this book helps you to understand the children's feelings and accept your own feelings. This book supports parents etc by helping them to gain an understanding of why children behave in certain ways, it shows parents etc that they are not to blame, and it gives us the tools to help create a calmer, nurturing and loving environment for all involved.
