I am hearing about batteries from China bursting into flames as in the hoverboard batteries. Has anyone had a problem with these batteries? Thanks.

Alkaline batteries do not burst into flames. The chemicals inside alkaline batteries are not flammable like in lithium ion batteries that are in the hover boards or your cell phone etc.

Anyone else notice the icons on the packaging have a wired game controller and wired mouse? Lol

Mark Edward Lewis ("cinemasound" web-site) has made a very nice systematic comparison of various primary AA batteries in 2019 ("SHOWDOWN: Best AA Battery") in a "real-life"-like conditions. According to this they last 23-50% less depending on what you power. If changing them more often is not critical for your application then it all depends on a price per battery. This 100x pack is very cheap per battery so usually they will win. However, it can be possible to buy Energizer max in bulk relatively cheap as well, so then they can come close and the winner will depend on a particular application (battery duration).
